Sertraline and Pregnancy

I have been taking 25mg of sertraline for 2 months now I was suffering from anxiety and panic attacks. We are thinking that around January we would like to concieve (conceive) again. I would like to know about how long should I be off of the sertraline before becoming pregnant? And do you thnk that the side effects will be severe being that I have only been on it a few months? I'm scared because I have a 2 year old and I do not want to be worse than I was before and go crazy or something.I don't see my phyciatrist again until Nov and I did'nt know if that would give me enough ime to get weened off. Please give me some advice. Thanks

i was on zoloft (25mg) through all three of my pregnancies..(now i am back up to 75).  anyway, my ob said everytime that there is no reason to worry, 25mg will be safe.  all of my babies turned out just fine...they actually say that if you really are worried about it you can try and stay off of it at the end of your pregnancy.  from what i have been told, babies might show some withdrawl (withdrawal) symptoms right after birth for the first day or so, symptom being overly fussy.  they way my ob put it, the affect of the panic attacks on the baby will be worse than the affect of the zoloft.  like i said, my babies are all fine, a trust me...i am the biggest worry wort about everything when i am pregnant, so i wouldn't be telling you this is i thought that it would be a danger.

i was on 75 mg of zoloft almost my entire pregnancy and my son turned out just fine.  he had very mild withdrawal - a little sleepy for the first several hours.  my obgyn said that was normal and nothing to be worried about.  i have done extensive research and have had several talks with my obgyn and increasing your dosage will not harm the child - i think you can go up to 200 mg.  i personally couldn't have "stuck it out" without the medication as i couldn't eat, sleep and felt wired which i knew wasn't good for me or my baby.  i would talk to your obgyn about all of your concerns so you can determine what is best for you.  i am currently on 100 mg (as i had a bad month) and my husband and i will be trying to conceive within the next few months as well.  i wish you the best of luck!!   :)
