Somatoform Disorder - Need Opinions

Hi, I need some opinions please. I think I have a general understanding of somatoform disorder, but what is your opinion on the following questions?
1.) Can somaotoform disorder change intellectual capabilities (college grades B-C to failing within a matter of a week or two up to a few months following a car accident and rapid decline in intellectual capabilities and memory dysfunction)?
2.) Can somatoform disorder cause physical appearance changes? Ex. horizontal ridges on nails, ligaments moving incorrectly, etc.?
