Someone else here is on high dose of benzodiazepines (6 mg or more of Xanax or Rivotril)?

I was wondering if i'm the only one here who is on a high dose of benzo med daily? I'm having weird side-effects and stronger anxiety than before.

I want to know if it's can be linked to my high dose of Benzo med OR it's purely psychological? If someone experience the same thing than me, we can share about it, I will feel less alone!!!

My actual dose of Rivotril (Klonopin - Clonazepam) is 8 mg a day, I was at 6 mg before the summer and when I increase my dose at 8 mg, I start having worse anxiety and more panic attacks, fainting while I had panic attack, as well as extreme fatigue with chronic headache... and the list goes on... each week I have a new symptoms... but one thing is sure, I can feel a lot tired by just doing a mental task and can do panic attack because of the mental task and the lack of cognitive abilities the benzo med give to me... I can't go out of my house now, totally homebound now, who is new for me... was able to get out of the house before last summer, but wasnt feeling great out of my house for sure but was able to deal with the extra anxiety I had outside my house... Now I can't deal with the anxiety I have inside my house! I go out only for Doc or Therapy appointments and each time it's a nightmare, since I stop driving, I need someone to go with me to the appointment and when i'm sit in the car, I need to ask the driver to stop every 2-3 minutes and I have to get out of the car and take deep breath... when the heart beat slow down I return in the car and we do another 1-2 km and we stop again... it makes me very tired and more anxious.for 2-3 days after I get out of the house... I need to spend a lot of time in my bed, even if I don't sleep and rest a lot before my anxiety level return to the normal high level it is normally when i'm at home.

I ask my PDoc about the possibility that the benzo meds can worse the anxiety and he answer that some peoples experience paradoxical side-effects. He say that often, after many years on a high dose of a benzo med, the brain stop producing Gaba receptors  OR the receptors change or becomes less sensible to the benzo meds and when you take the med, they can't bind to the Gaba receptors, so the anxiety increase and the problem get worse. So the peoples increase their dose because they want to have the same relieve of their anxiety and they get stuck with higher anxiety state and strong addiction who just worse the anxiety problem.

He explain also that a part of the problem is also related to the fact that the benzo med are prescribed for acute stress-related situations. When someone start using them, they have a strong relief from the anxiety and panic attacks with a marked decrease of the fears and apprehensions levels. After a while, the peoples associate the fact that they can fight their anxiety and go out of their house because they take their pills but in fact, they don't learn to resolve the roots of the anxiety and they don't learn new alternative stress coping strategies....and when the pills stop working, peoples have worse anxiety and can experience paradoxical side-effects.

He describe the paradoxical side-effects as a feeling of increased anxiety, even if you continue to take your high dose of benzodiazepine. Some peoples will experience short term memory loss, extreme tiredness, lack of concentration, rebound insomnia, rebound anxiety between each dose even with long half-life benzo meds, nightmares, vision problems like hallucinations, tinnitus, frequent panic attacks, frequent headache, agoraphobia, anger and irritability, agressive behaviour, overstimulation like too much caffeine effect,  as well as depression.

I experience those kind of side-effects each day... but can't lower my dosage... what to do... ?
