Stomach Pain After i Wake Up...

by John23a, Jun 13, 2009 12:52PM
Well i have been having this severe stomach pain when i wake up in the morning. It doesnt happen everyday but it usually happens on the days i sleep more like weekends (Not Always). Like it usually happens 4-5 times each month. The pain is not like a normal stomach pain i get, its like this muscle pain and spasm and it just goes away after 30 minutes by itself. Im not sure but i think eating helps the pain to go away faster. I went to my doctor and he said it could be stress related..but he didnt do any further examinations..Could anxiety do this to someone?

Anxiety can do anything, but I would rule out the physical before attributing it to the mental.  If it's helped by eating, it could be an ulcer or other digestive disorder; they are often relieved by eating.  It could be a magnesium deficiency causing cramping.  It could be irritable bowel.  You can try supplementing with magnesium citrate and some aloe juice to see if it helps, but I would see a gastroenterologist for some diagnosis; it sounds like your doctor blew you off.  This happened to me when I was young, they told me I was too young to have an ulcer, but I did have one.  Doctors can be jerks, so you have to be assertive with them.
