Switching off of Xanax

A little about me... About 3 years ago all of a sudden I had a panic attack and have been having them regularly since then. I have been on Xanax 0.25mg BID to TID for almost 3 years. Have never increased my dose because I did not want to become addicted to this medication. They now want me to switch to Klonipin (klonopin) 0.5mg BID. I am very hesitant on switching cause I read of the withdrawl (withdrawal) symptoms. I know it is mind over matter for me, but hoping with the advice I receive on here, I will be able to control my mind.... If that makes any sense at all. I do not feel anything when taking the Xanax, as it is such a low dose and I have been on it for years, but as soon as it is time to take my dose, I can not miss it. My mind tells me that im going to have withdrawl (withdrawal) symptoms. With this in mind, is there any way I can take the Xanax until the Klonipin (klonopin) gets fully in to my system, so I do not have to worry about any attacks and be a little calmer in making the switch.
