Swollen groin

I have sex with a woman and the condom got broken, I came maybe 2 minutes after the condom got broken, I washed my penis and urinated, then after I took some anti biotics, I went for HIV Test, after 7 weeks of this incident, my finger was pricked and for about 15 minutes the doctor gave me the result which was negative, this test was taken on the 24 of October and today being the 18 of NOV I have a swollen groin, but not too big and slightly painful.

I am so afraid, what should I do? Is the test accurate, does this sign show HIV+ or what, please I wait your answer, also I had sex with my fianc

I dont see how a test can be be very accurate with a downside of having more of a chance of not being accurate. To each there own opinion but I am doubting a fiancee would one forgive her man for having sex with another woman, look at her fiancee who is having "anxiety" issues because he really beleives he could be HIV positve and have unprotected sex with him without the test results. That brings the word naive to mind.

Actually that last comment was directed at Angel.  She didn't know that there was an orasure hiv test.  Anyways, congrads on your negative test.  Hopefully you will be able to move on.

I'm not sure where you are.  Here in the U.S. there is an oraquick test which is very accurate and will come back in 20 minutes.  They are the preferred test to take instead of waiting two weeks.  There is one down side, however.  There is a slightly higher rate of false positives.

True there is an hiv support forum but this is also an anxiety forum.  Alot of people have irrational fears of hiv that cause overwhelming anxiety.  Usually it's not due to hiv itself, but some underlying emotional/anxiety disorder.  This can cause someone to over react, so he is not wrong to post here.

I have a couple questions. If you are concerned about your "swollen groin" then why did you go to a doctor and get an HIV test but not ask him to look at your groin? Why did you not ask your doctor if this is a sign of HIV? What kind of HIV test did you have that comes back in fifteen minutes? There are not test strips that are like a pregnancy test that would come back in fifteen minutes? Any sort of blood work takes at least an hour so maybe you showed negative on a preg test but that is not a test for HIV. Also if you were concerned about your groin you would have been tested for more then HIV or your doctor would have asked to see your swollen groin.

Also.....you have internet and if you were concerned about HIV you would have done alot more research then just posting an ignorant post on this web site. Your doctor would have taken you seriously with fear of HIV and helped you through it and explained everything to you.

The person who post to call of your wedding is very right. I completely agree. If you were concerned about HIV why in gods name would you put someone that you want to spend the rest of your life at risk to recieve such a deadly disease? I think your post is in very, very bad taste and very cruel to the people who had no choice but to come in contact with this disease. It is a very ignorant person who would have the nerve to post the stuff you post on here. I hope god blesses you and your fiancee is definately in some of our prayers

"First of all, everyone makes mistakes. Calling off your wedding was not an appropriate response by the previous poster. Actually, I'm not quite sure why you did. But that's not the point right now."

Sparkeler, this is an unmoderated patient-to-patient forum, in which people offer their "opinions" and sometimes things will be said that a poster will not want to here and may not necessarily be related to the original post; this is the nature of posting in a forum like this one.

This forum was created for people with anxiety issues.  I do not believe this is the appropiate place for someone to start a thread because they are "afraid" they could be HIV positive even though they have already been tested NEGATIVE for it.  The poster finishes his question with:

"I want to know will HIV be dictated at 6-7 weeks, can this be a HIV symptoms, I previous had a sharp pain on the right side of my west, a day before I had the swollen groin on the right side of my groin, could pains be the cause of this or is HIV+"

This question is clearly not appropriate for an anxiety forum. Could I have redirected him to the HIV support forum?  Yes.  However, the poster elected to post here and point out that he had sex with "a women" and then proceeded to have unprotected intercourse with his fiancee despite his concern for being HIV postive.  At no time did the poster indicate that he is concerned that, through his actions, he could have infected his finacee; the sole reason for mentioning his fiancee appeared to be to validate the unlikelyhood that HE isnt HIV+ because she is non-symptomatic.  On these grounds I stand by my orignal post and find nothing inappropriate about my answer based on the aforementioned circumstances.

THANK A LOT FOR YOUR MASSAGE, ACTUALLY THE GROIN SWELL HAPPENS TO BE A BOIL FROM THE WAY IT LOOKS, BECAUSE IT GOT BURSTED BY IT SELF AND MY FIANCEE PRESSED IT AND SOME WHITE THINSG LIKE FROM PIMPLE CAME OUT OF IT, SO I THINK IT WAS A BOIL. OR CAN A GROIN SWELL BURST LIKE A BOIL?

THNAKS, I HAVE CHANGED THINGS WITH MY GIRL AND OUR WEDDING KICKS ON THE 20TH OF DEC 2006 BEING MY BIRTHDAY.

THANKS

First of all, everyone makes mistakes.  Calling off your wedding was not an appropriate response by the previous poster.  Actually, I'm not quite sure why you did.  But that's not the point right now.

Your 7 week test is absolutely conclusive.  You are hiv negative.  FYI:  The chance hiv was transmitted to you IF the lady you slept with WAS infected would be 1 in 20000 chance (for vaginal sex.)  And the fact that the unprotected sex was for about 2 min, decreases that even more.  You really have to understand that you are at no real risk here for hiv. (More so for a bacterial infection if anything.)  The people who really get infected with are drug users or people who continuously sleep unprotected with someone who is KNOWN to have hiv,  One time sexual exposures are just not that risky.  (100 one time sexual exposures may be a different story.)  But you are absolutely fine.

Lastly, has your "swollen" groin been diagnosed by a doctor?  If not, then it's probably in your head.  If it bothers you that much, then see a doctor.  But it has nothing to do with hiv!  I hope you are able to patch things up with your fiancee.  Take this as a lesson learned.  Stay safe!

Thank for your response glad2bamom , I really am relieved. The kind of test I did was that my finger was pricked and blood was taken and dropped into a testing tube and the doctor if my blood forms two lines then it is positive and if my blood forms only one line then it is negative.

Then my blood formed one line and the test was repeated again and it was negative. That was the type of test, well I think the swollen groin I was afraid was just a boil, because it was came out for a day and the second day being today it busted and some whitish things came out, then I pressed it and now it is gone.

I want to know this is different from a swollen groin, I don

Over on the HIV forum, Dr. H would say that a result at 6 weeks is fairly conclusive.  I think the "absolute" testing time is 12 weeks, but I read over there tonight that at 7 weeks, your test should be accurate.  If you need assurance, go over there, (to the moderated forum) and read about it.  It's in literally every thread.
A swollen lymph node can be caused by a multitude of things.  A viral infection, a bacterial infection, a bug bite, even.  Potentially you have an ingrown hair, and you just think its a lymph node?
I really think you're fine.

However, what kind of test did they do that came back in 15 minutes?

Q: If you are concerned about being HIV positive why are you having unprotected intercourse with your fiance???
