Symptoms after exercise

I have come to grips with the fact that I have an anxiety disorder.  I was a healthy 31 year old until about 3 months ago.  I have been to doctors and had tests ran, I have all the symptoms, and I am taking paxil 20 mg and lorazepam 0.5 mg once every other day as I am tapering off of it.  My question is about symptoms after exercise.  When I am jogging, I actually feel close to normal but the minute I stop, I get nausea/dizzy/lightheaded.  Anyone else experience this?  I had a nuclear stress test and results were good.

Yes I also have symptoms after exercise. I feel pretty good when walking then when I'm done and sit done at home I also get extra dizzy and lightheaded.  And feel more anxiety.  So I actually didn't want to go out for walks anymore. But I need to lose weight so I need to start walking again. I agree with M4you about all of the hormones and stuff that goes on during exercise, I have done research on that as well.  I really wish the feeling would'nt go away. Because then we would be fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello there,

I'm also suffering from anxiety for about 4 months now and it's happening to me to after i jog or doing cardio work at the gym. It might be related to the air intake and supply to the brain that is overreacting because of anxiety. Don't let this stopping your from doing work out since it's very good for anxiety. It makes you generate a lot of hormones and body's natural drug and other important stuff that i will explain to you.

Physical activity stimulates protein synthesis (muscle tone/development), and strength of bones, tendons, ligaments, andcartilage. We call it the growth hormones

Endorphines: An endogenous opioid from the pituitary gland that blocks pain, decreases appetite, creates a feeling of euphoria (the exercise high), and reduces tension and anxiety. Blood levels of endorphins increase up to five times resting levels during longer duration (greater than 30 minutes) aerobic exercise at moderate to intense levels and also during interval training. Also, after several months of regular exercise, you develop an increased sensitivity to endorphins (a higher high from the same level of endorphins), and endorphins that are produced tend to stay in your blood for a longer period of time. This makes longer duration exercise easier (you're feeling no pain) and it causes your exercise high to last for a longer period of time after exercise.

Testosterone, estrogen, thyroxine (T4), epinephrine, insulin, glucagon are other hormones produced by your body while doing physical activity. You can search those to see the effects, i don't want my post to be 2000 words =P

So you can see there's alot going on while doing exercise and if you suffer from anxiety which is basicly you overreacting then yes you might also be overreacting to everything going on after physical activities like the jogger's high.

So don't stop doing exercise and don't worry about the symptoms you are experiencing after physical activity they will eventually go away unless you are suffering from a medical condition other than anxiety.

Best regards,
M4
