Today I had a bad experience.  Let me tell you a little about myself first.  I am 41 years old, I weigh 240 lbs ( i know i am way over weight).  I get out of breathe often, but today after walking up 2 flights of stairs, I could not even talk with out gasping for air, it felt like my heart was going to pound out of my chest.  I took a xanax and about an our later I felt a little bit better, but every time I think about it my heart starts racing and I get jittery. Is this a form of my anxiety.  Also I was in the hospital a month ago for chest pains, all the test came back normal, but I just worry too much. Thanks for listening.

To be on the safe side, make an appointment with a Cardiologist.  In April this year, I was out mowing the lawn and felt real dizzy, felt like passing out.  I was ambulanced to the ER.  Turns out, my heart was overworking, no salt, no potassium in my system, I stayed in the hospital 5 days.  

Since then I develooped really bad anxiety, every time I walk, my heart starts to pound (anxiety/fear), I get short of breath, not able to talk, and the more I focus on my heart rate, the harder it pound, and the faster it gets.  

I always have to convince myself, I'm not having a heart attack, once I begin to relax, my heart calms down.  But I've had a stress test, ultrasound, echo, Cath, 24 hour heart monitor since then, Cardiologist said my heart was in perfect health.  He said from all my tests, all he could really see was mild tachycardia from anxeity.  So yes, anxiety can cause or contribute to the sensations your feeling.

Also Asthma can cause the symptoms you described, it's best to consult with a doctor, allergist or cardiologist, for proper treatment.
