Taper from short-term Clonazepam

Taper from short-term Clonazepam

I've been on Clonazepam for almost two weeks, taking .25mg in the morning at 7am and in the night at 7pm.

a) how long until it becomes fully effective in my body? I have nights lately where I feel crazy anxious and restless...
b) how can I taper off this low-dose for short-term use if I decide to do that?

Thanks,

i too am on klonopin .05 in the morn and .05 in the evening along with lexapro 15mg per day. its been 3 weeks. do u do any other med with klonopin? maybe when u feel more anxious u should up the dose a bit. I know its hard to surrender to the drugs but ey, sometimes we just need it!
hit me back when u can

iv been on the similar dose for about 2 weeks, when you feel crazy anxious you need to up your dose to a full .5mg and itl work, tapering off which i am doing right now i take .25mg in the morning and then not at night, i only take it at night if i absolutely have to. also take vitamin b complex and omega 3's during the day they help alot with the anxiety so you wont have to be completely dependant on the clonazepam, but everyone is different. hope this helps!

also if you find that the .25mg is not working for you then that means you probably need to up your dose to .5mg twice a day, that was my case initially.

thats what i was on, im not a doctor but i think its relatively a low dose seeing that clonazepam comes in doses of up to 2mg that from what ive read people can take up to three times daily.

I am thinking of upping my dose to the prescribed amount of .25mg 3 times per day. Hoping that might make a difference?

i would consult ur doctor first, i had the initial permission from my doctor to up my own dose to .5mg if the initial .25mg wasnt working.

No, the prescription my doctor wrote was for .25mg taken three times daily. I just took only two times daily instead of three times daily. So, I've been taking less than what he prescribed me. I just didn't want to take that much, it's buggering with my head a bit, but I'm thinking either it doesn't work, or twice a day just isn't enough and my body is getting used to that much and so I'm feeling the anxiety worse than usual again.

i wud say go for it then, i dont think u can get used to it so quickly i think that takes a couple on months, and your not supposed to be on these things for more than 3 months at a time if i am correct?

that group of meds should work in under 30 minutes  your dose may be to low-- and it may be best to get on an ssri that treats anxiety and is not addictive
