Teeth chattering?
It seems like everytime I have a panic attack there is some new symptom or sensation that pops up, but the one thing that is always there and has always been there since about my 4th or 5th attack is teeth chattering. It's not just a little chattering though, like when you're cold. It's like out of control, spastic chattering. I'm not usually very cold when I have an attack, I actually almost always feel really hot until the attack is over, then the cold sets in.

Does anyone else have this teeth chattering symptom? I haven't heard about it from all the posts I've read, but it's such a big symptom of mine and it's the one that makes me most anxious because it seems like such an extra weird thing to be happening, even though I know most anxiety symptoms are pretty weird.

Yes, I also have the teeth chattering and shaking all over...I seem to have all the wierd symptoms of panic attacks...cotton-mouth, blurry vision, stomach upset, hyperventilation, tightness in throat, palpitations (racing and irregular and pounding beats), and the urge to void when it's ending...that's usually not possible though b/c I'm usually always in the car when I have one.

Thank heavens I'm not the only one with this symptom, it is really so strange and it freaks me out more then any of the other symptoms. I've never had an attack in a car (knock on wood), mine usually always happen at home. The shaking also stays with me for quite a while after the attack ends, which is annoying.

i also have jaw symptoms, my teeth don't chatter because my tongue gets in the way. when i have a panic attack or am generally anxious, i chew on my tongue, my arm shakes (like from my chest outward rapidly, that particular symptom didn't pop up until i reached my early 20's), and my head shakes rapidly from side to side. always something rapid :p

i understand that panic attacks last forever, and i'm always exhausted afterward, i even feel sore in some places.   i'm glad you no longer feel alone, it's always a relief when there's hope for some support from people who understand.

I hope you find the help and support that you need to not feel this way anymore. you don't have to, and you don't need to suffer. there are several medicines out there to give you some peace.

best of luck to you. :)

That has always been a real problem of mine for as long as I can remember. Sometimes I even do it to a certain beat. I think that's why my teeth are so screwed up.I thought that I was the only one who had that problem when I get extremely anxious. Not to mention the dry mouth and the really bad shaking. I haven't taken any calanopin in a few days and i feel like I'm going to break my teeth.

Yeah, it really hurts my jaw. I hate it because I feel like I really look like a crazy person when it happens, it's a hard symptom to hide when you're having an attack when you're around other people. I hate the all over shaking too, it drives me nuts. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I was told this is a normal symptom of anxiety from my doctor but it is quite annoying.

So I started going for massages and during my second massage, my low jaw started trembling with varying intensity.  It was when my therapist was around my neck so we thought it was connected to a nerve or something.  Yesterday I went for my third massage and the lower jaw started trembling again but it was when he was massaging my arms and legs???? I felt relaxed and at ease and didn't feel nervous at all but I can't think of any other reason for this bizarre jaw trembling than anxiety?  I had no other symptoms of anxiety just the jaw trembling.  My massage therapist is very handsome and I am somewhat self conscious about my body......perhaps I am anxious and don't realize it? Is this possible?

Yeah, I get the teeth chattering too.  It's a pretty new symptom for me though.  Depending on how anxious I get, my IBS will act up as well.  That's a whole different problem.  I have to have a bottle of Imodium AD in the house for that major inconvenience.  Problem is, it kind of takes me off guard because I usually don't feel that anxious when it happens.  Here I am thinking that I've managed to control my anxiety with breathing and guided imagery and then, WHAMMO!, my teeth start to chatter and I'm stuck in the bathroom for and hour!!!  You are so not alone with these problems.

I just got home from a Nutrition Seminar.  I'm from Manila.  This 91 year old woman experienced several months of endless teeth chattering 5 years ago.  She didn't know what to do anymore since they visited almost ALL of the Neurologist in this country and they couldn't help her.  Until one day, they visited Richter Alternative and Medical Clinic.  She underwent 8 sessions of colon cleansing called Colonics/Hydrotherapy.  On the 5th colonics session, the chattering stopped.  It hasn't happened again since 2007.  Look up the procedure in your country and try it.  I hope this information helps you.

HI HUN. YES, MY TEETH CHATTER WHEN IM HAVING A PANIC ATTACK. ITS WEIRD TO SAY BUT IM GLAD MY TEETH CHATTER BECAUSE AS ANYONE KNOWS WITH PANIC ATTACKS, EVERY TIME YOU GET ONE NO MATTER HOW LONG YOU HAVE HAD THEM...YOU ALWAYS THINK YOUR HAVING A HEART ATTACK, BUT ATLEAST WHEN I AM HAVE THE TEETH CHATTERING I KNOW ITS A PANIC ATTACK. I KNOW THAT SOUNDS WEIRD, BECAUSE ITS ANNOYING! HOWEVER, IF MY TEETH START TO CHATTER AS IF IM FREEZING WHEN IM NOT, IT HELPS ME CALM DOWN BECAUSE I CAN CONVINCE MYSELF THAT ITS JUST  PANIC, AND IT WILL SUBSIDE SOON. THE TEETH CHATTERING ACTUALLY JUST STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. I AM SO GLAD I AM NOT ALONE, WITH PANIC ATTACKS. SOMETIMES YOU FEEL ALONE, LIKE NO ONE UNDERSTANDS! I HAVE SUFFERED FROM THEM FOR TEN YEARS NOW. I ONLY GET THEM WHEN IM SLEEPING. I WAKE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WITH MY HEART RACING, DIZZY, SICK TO MY STOMACH, TEETH CHATTERING, AND SCARED THAT IM GOING TO PASS OUT. I HATE THIS DISEASE. TO ME ITS A DISEASE, AND I WOULDNT WISH IT ON MY WORSE ENEMY!

Does deep breathing help anyone? It just helped me so I thought I would share but yes, I get intense chattering too now, I used to get no symptoms and now I feel sick, tight chest, trouble breathing and MASSIVE teeth chattering and body tremours. I recently discovered I am bi-polar too but am really against medication because it can **** up your physical. I see a psychologist

I am so scared.

Anyone have natural remedies that they use?

I want them to stop :(

I can sympathize with everyone in this forum, I too have been searching for answers for my family's health issues of tremors and tics. I have found the answer. I hope it will help you all as well.

I'm a nurse, but I never heard of how Magnesium could affect our body.
Magnesium deficiency could lead to all kinds of body tics, tremors, shakes, numbness, teeth grinding, snoring, sleep apnea, tourette syndrome, Bipolar diagnosis, anxiety, panic attacks, difficult breathing, teeth chattering, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and hundreds more of symptoms. Magnesium is involved in 300 body enzyme processes so that lack of it will cause so many symptoms which could be diagnosed or never diagnosed by the doctors. This is a nutritional problem caused by the food that we now have lacking the proper nutrients.
I would direct you ALL to search on Magnesium Deficiency, both on You tube and Google. Wealth of Information is on line, but best of all is read "The Magnesium Miracle " book by Dr. Carolyn Dean. Its so amazing. You will find all the answers to what everyone here is talking about..
I thank God for the blessing to find Magnesium. Its such a simple answer to so vast problems that lack of it could cause.

According to the book, one best choice for Mg supplementation is Mg Glycinate, body requirement is 400 mg for women but it can be taken safely at 4 to 8 mg per lb. It will take time  6 to 12 months to get the body levels back to normal, so to speed it up,  there is Mg Flakes that could be used for foot soaks or dissolve it and use as body spray. I / We use both. The spray works instantly, this way, it helps boost Mg to get the normal levels faster.

Everyone needs Mg. not everyone is aware because it does not get advertised as there is no money to be made unlike Calcium . Too much Calcium without Magnesium could cause problems. Vit D is also necessary to be taken with Mg to push it into the body cells.
Mg is a relaxation mineral, while calcium makes the body contract. So there should be a balance in the body between the two. Calcium is abundant in the foods we eat, but Mg is not so it always needs daily supplementation. If you are getting less than 400 mg a day, then it is non sufficient.. and we are all in this category.
Please get the book.. it will help you all get well and also be able to help your family .. Your answer is here. There is hope , be patient and give it time.. and spread the word.

So weird, but I absolutely agree!!! The other symptoms freak me out like there is definitely something physically wrong with me (99% of the time I think heart attack) but when the teeth chattering starts I realize definitely anxiety. I also sometimes have the leg shaking as well. Both of these somehow help me because I realize that it's just my anxiety. Weird and difficult to explain, but wanted to let you know I feel the same way :)

I have the same issues, and someone said to stop eating gluten for a month or so and see if it helps stop the attacks. I did it, and it helped a lot. I still get panic attacks but they aren't as bad as they use to be. I can now drive my car for about 30 minutes without an attack. Before I was 2 minutes into driving and the attacks would start. I recently found out that if you have been in a car accident you might have PTSD from the accident. This also explains why many panic attackers have road rage while driving.

My teeth chatter uncontrollably if I'm feeling anxiety, uncomfort,or like a disturbance. Even if I talk about something that I feel is unsettling to discuss, I'll sometimes shiver and my voice will tremble. I think it has a lot to do with nerves because mines has progressively become worse in the past few years and I'm 17 now.  It helps if I close my eyes and breathe calmly, I think I'm easily bothered by certain things lol

This was an issue for years. It's a very annoying thing to have to deal with when your already having an attack. Plus tapping can chip and hurt your teeth. Well....... as this didn't seem to be going away I looked for answers. My therapist didn't have anything for stopping the tapping so I looked further. What I found may sound out of the ordinary to some but it works. It's an adult pacifier. Yes it works as long as you don't grind your teeth. If you are a grinder this will not work. We only use it at home but it's helped a lot. Find what works for you and use it.
