Tired

My psychiatrist has me on Prozac (40mg) once a day, klonopin (1mg) twice a day, and has now added busbar (15mg) twice a day. It's still unclear as to why all 3. I'm very tired and unmotivated. If I don't take any medication I have panic attacks and sever anxiety. Is there something I can take that has a short-term effect to calm me rather than taking all of these? I have not been diagnosed with bipolar disorder or depression, simply an anxiety disorder. Is there a happy medium?

Everyone has some really great points here.  Different meds affect people in different ways.  Finding the right combonation can be a little tricky sometimes, but in my experience, it does take a while for the body to adjust sometimes.  I am on a different SSRI (similar to Prozac), and in fact it can take 5-6 weeks to feel any benefit from it.  In fact, it caused me to become a little more on edge for awhile, but actually helped immensly in the long run.  You are taking the right steps though; you are seeing someone about this and talking it through with them.  Just keeping talking with your doctor to ensure you are comfortable with everything.

It can take up to 6 weeks for medication side-effects to pass so its possible what you are feeling with subside w/ time.  Of the 3 medications you mention, klonopin is a very good long term medication for treating anxiety.

Hi Tammy,
You really have to let your dr. know how this is making you feel,  that is alot of medication. Bt, everyone is different.  It took me awhile for the right combo. And time for the body to adjust to it.

Stay in touch..

Hiya Tammy,

Yep there is a happy medium but it's different for everyone. Let your doctor know what this particular combination of meds is doing to you. Oftentimes meds need to changed until the right "recipe" is found for you. Keep in mind that many times as your body adjusts to the meds some of these side effects will go away.

Good Luck
