I think GL's point was more about a person so young consenting to such a drastic process, be it operative or non-operative. There is obviously a lot to consider, and a minor would need the permission of his or her parents to start the treatment.
No not at all. As a matter of fact the younger you start hormone treatment the better off you'll be. They won't have to go through male puberty if they start before they go through it.
mtf stands for male to female and in canada i can start blockers between 12-15 and taking estrogen at 16 its a long and complicating process and i do fufefr from clinical depression and suicidal thoughts
I thought you had to be fully grown to begin the transgender process? I don't mean that you had to be an "adult," but that you had to have finished growing physically, which I thought didn't happen until about age 21. Perhaps I'm wrong. That's happened once or twice before.
I have read and reread your post but can't really find a question or concern that involves anxiety. Unless "mrf" has something to do with an anxiety disorder or depression. I apologize for not knowing what it stands for.
Also the medication you will be starting in August, (Lupron) is a medication not used in the treatment of anxiety/panic or depression issues.
Being so young and making this decision, which is huge, I would only hope that they offer you therapy throughout this entire process. It is very difficult for me to believe they wouldn't be counseling you at each and every step.
Please consult the specialist who is following you for answers to all your questions, which I find unacceptable that you don't already have.
I trust you have thoroughly checked this doctor out and that he/she has all the qualifications to perform this type of surgery.
Perhaps there is a support group you could get involved with. Being with other people going through the same procedure can be very comforting.
If you have trouble finding answers, please post again and someone here will try and get you hooked up with someone who can help you.
I wish you the very best, a happy life.........and peace.
