Valium

by fd11, Nov 26, 2007 05:33PM
I know it takes 4 weeks to reach its peak, but I need to go back to work by Thursday.  Do you think it would be bad to take 7.5MG of Valium at night and 2.5MG in the morning.  I can't go 50/50 because it knocks me out.  Still get a little panic in some situations.  Right now I am taking 10 MG at night before bed.  I have been on Valium for 10 days now.  I am starting to have no modervation for I have been at home for 2 weeks now.  I do feel some what better then I did 15 days ago.  There is a positive.

Four weeks to reach steady-state when dosed at least twice daily (in equal dosages). Dosed once daily, it may take upwards of two months, and the plasma level would be very low (but stable, unlike Klonopin that is dosed once daily). Thus, Valium is still a good option for you, a good option in that it will provide some stability.

Taking 7.5 mg before bed, and 2.5 mg in the morning is not a problem. Consistency is the key. You should pick one routine, and stick with it. If you don't, the plasma level will fluctuate (as will your symptoms).

There IS a positive, and things will improve with time. I just wish you could tolerate split dosages, as it would make things much easier.

How was your holiday?  Thanks again for the advice.  If I were to start to take .5MG in the morning and the other .5MG at night, how long would it take for the drowsiness to go away?  I really want to try to take it twice daily so I can become stabilized and start to dry cut after 6 weeks (of being stabilized) 1MG every 2 weeks, but I am afraid that I might fall asleep while driving.  The doctor tells me to take it the whole pill before bed and that it doesn't make sense to take half the pill in the morning and then half at night.  Then I mention to him what you explain about the blood plasma levels and he says I don't understand.  LOL  - I love these doctors.
