It's okay to wait until you're twenty, some people have them their entire lives with no problems.  My son had a few and had his operated on in his 30's.  Hope this helps.

Yeah I guess that's a big help so really they shouldn't be that serious? The doctor said not to worry unless there giving me a lot of discomfort ?

If you have a vein ligation (probably the operation the doctor is talking about), the condition is not cured. You will simply develop varicosities in other veins. I had serious varicose veins. Both ankles had purplish bags of stagnant blood that looked ready to burst at any time. The skin was thinning and beginning to flake so I was one step away from ulcerating.

I added trace minerals to my water and took BioSil (a bioavailable form of silicon) and my legs are now free of those ugly veins. This was not a quick cure. It took at least two years. But they are gone - and no useless invasive surgery.

Where would I be able to get this stuff? The though of surgery really scaresme and I didn't think there was something I could do myself to make them go away? My veins will more the. Likely get bad it's been in my family and
Y mum had it very badly they even came back and she had 2 operations iv noticed mine a month ago and since I noticed them its a whole different picture of my leg now to a month they look so much worse o_o

I will tell you what I can buy in the U.S. You probably have access to something similar in England. The minerals are "Colloidal Life Trace Minerals" by Source Naturals. The silicon is "BioSil" by Bio Minerals NV, a Belgian firm. It is packaged and distributed in the U.S. by Natural Factors. Look them up on the internet. Good luck. My legs are varicose free and I am 82 years old. You might get a quicker result than I did, but as long as you get a surgeryless cure, it doesn't matter how long it takes. As a bonus, your skin, hair and nails get a boost.

I forgot to tell you how much I took. Of the minerals I put one tablespoon in a gallon of filtered water (we have a filter on our tap). So every time I drink a glass of water I get the minerals I need. But I also add to the gallon of water, 16 drops of BioSil.

In the last year I added another five drops of BioSil (taken separately) daily because I wanted to get rid of what remained of the calluses on my feet and to improve my hair and skin. It did both in rather short order.

Hi dennis,

I am 29 and I also have vericose veins! They started apearing when I was @ 12, and gradually got worse.

I'm not sure how bad exactly you have them, as like anything they can fluctuate in severity.

For instance, mine have slowly gotten worse over the past 18 years, but I am a sensative guy and I have tracked their developement and believe I have a very good understanding of them, vericose veines, intuitively ( from experience) and I am also well educated on them!

Mine at the time are mainly in my right leg on the calf, and they are ugly and bumpy and stick out @ 1/4 inch, and they follow to my lower extremities (my feet).

I'm taking the time here to try to inform you on vericose veins so that you have a goo understanding of their prognosis (how rapidly they will get worse), and also how I would best deal with them and treat them!!

First of all they look worse then they really are. And they can't kill you!! They cant even cause blood clot because vericose veins are VEINS and not arteries. Veines bring the blood throughout your body and arteries bring the blood back to your heart. And the veines that appear at the surface, which look horible and are called vericose veins, they are actually superficial veins, and you have more deeper veins which are bigger which you can depend on!!

So essentially you could get surgery and have these big ugly superficial veins removed, but in my strong oppinion, they best solution is to prevent them from getting worse, and you can do this, I'll tell you how!

But before hand, to discourage you from getting surgery, it is true that even after surgery more vericose veins will develope! And surgery is what can cause a bloodclot and death.

So, here is my solution/answer:

What is happening is your blood is pooling in your lower extremities and getting poor circulation.

The best way to deal with them is to take care of them, and this is how:

Stop doing drugs, especially weed and ciggerettes (if you do) smoke WILL make them worse.. I know this from experience.

2) stay fit! This means walk alot. Get in the habit of walking for exercise and good blood flow. Even professionals will tell you that running or extensive exercise is bad for vericose veinse.

3) eat well and drink water. In my oppinion, if you eat well and drink water you are treating your body good, and if you really want to get savy about it you can look into natural supliments that are good for circulation and vein health. But I am content with just being holistically health.

4) Don't lift heavy things, heavy lifting will make your veins worse, quicker than anything else. So if you have a laboror job, keep the lifting light if you have to do a lot of it all the time. I try not to lift more than 50-100 lbs regularly. You can still get a lot done without carrying everything in one full swoop. I think this is a bad work ethic anyway that a lot of people do, as it leads to bad backs and hernias.

5) lastly, stay thin! If you are over weight, this is not only a sign of being unhealthy, but it mean you are carrying around weight with you all the time! And if you speak with most doctors, or read up on vericose veines, being over weight is one of the few things they say is a factor in making vericose veines get worse.

Oh yeh, also they say to elevate you legs when you can. they say a couple times daily, for like 15 minutes. I agree with this too, it gets the blood out of your legs and can do wonders.

All of these measures are what I do and would recommend anyone with vericose veins.

I help my dad do tree work, and I know that when I lift logs and **** it has a huge affect on my veins, they get slightly worse actually with just one day of lifting.  But having said that, you can heal them back to their most healthy state even if you have been mistreating your body and your veins. The human body is very "elastic", and I am very confident that if I take care of my self with respect to especially the 6 things I mentioned above, then my veins will stay "benign" meaning they won't really get worse very quickly at all. I am confident that I can keep my legs and veins healthy and not be a concerns, and perhaps never have to have sergery (surgery).

I think surgery is a last resort, when you have taken great care of yourself and the veins have gotten to the point where they are unbarable. Like for me, my vericose veins can hurt, swell badly, itch, etc. These are common symptoms of severe vericose veins.

Oh hey, one last thing about them is they say not to masage them, because if they are bad, masaging them can actually cause a blood clot. So just leave them alone and take care. protect them.. what doesnt kill us only makes us stronger.. and more beautiiful.. it's true I believe. And vericose veins are not all that bad after all. They seem worse of a condition when you are younger, but they are actually quite managable.. it's not like cancer or anything. You can be grateful and fully happy. No need to worry about your veins.

Actually, in my twenties, I would start elevating them if I were in a car ride or something, and just knowing that I was taking care of myself I had a lot of happiness and appreciate for life. They are a part of me, I can learn to appreciate them.. they are a part of struggle in us and struggle makes us beautiful. Haha,

so here is my 101 lesson on vericose veins. I just wanted to go to this extent because chances are you wont find this help anywhere else.

So over all cap:  take care and don't get surgery untill/unless you really need to. At least give the lifestyle suggestions I mentioned about a good chance and see how you feel over time!!

peace,
Ash

ps- sorry for the mispelling, I'm not going back to read over this :)

oh, and keep working on feeling better in general. I believe thich Nhat Hanh is right that happiness is possible, right in the present moment.

I didn't do any of the things you mention, yet I totally cured myself of varicose  veins in my seventies. Read my entries above.

Are you sure they were "vericose veins" or were they "spider veins" Vericose veins stick out of your leg at least 1/4 of an inch and swell the surrounded area. They are big and thick, between 1/4-1/2 inch in diameter and if unraveled would look like a snake about the size of a full grown grass snake.  Spider veins on the other hand are much different, they are a lot smaller and are usually purple. I commend you if you were able to get rid of these on your own because I believe spider viens likely don't go away on their own.

You are in error to assume that I am a halfwit. What may bias you is that my cure is nowhere to be found in the traditional medical lexicon (ergo, could not possibly be efficacious).
