WAY oversleeping issues--HELP!!!

WAY oversleeping issues--HELP!!!

I have suffered with panic disorder for years.  I have tried Paxil, prozac, Paxil CR, and am currently on Effexor XR.  My question is this;  I am severly sleepy during the day, sleep constantly--14-16 hours a day usually.  Each time I switch meds, I hope that the hypersomnia will be alleviated with the new drug, but it never is.  Is there anything that can be done?  I have a lot of health anxieties, and don't want to take stimulants ( I was prescribed Adderall (adderrall), but never took it).  Even before my Panic disorder developed, I was like this (as a teenager, I missed tons of school because of not waking up in the morning.  I WANT DESPERATELY to wake up after 7 or 8 hours and be AWAKE, and energized--I feel I am sleeping my kids' childhoods away!!!!  HELP!!

I was like that on Paxil. I was always tired, and was constantly yawning. Effexor has the opposite effect on me. Since you've had this problem since you were a teenager, it's probably not the Effexor that's doing it. Have you talked to your doctor about it? How long have you been on the Effexor? Maybe it's depression related?

yeah, I think there's something with my body--I'm going to a new doc on the 19th--maybe it's something like chronic fatigue or something??  Thanks for the response!

Thats exactly what I was thinking. It sounds to me like chronic fatigue. Do you experience pain anywhere on a daily basis? If so maybe you should google fibromyalgia. I have both fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue so I know what you are going through. I can sleep 15 hours a day and wake up and still be worn out and tired like I have just been hit by a mac truck. Dont get me wrong, I like to sleep, but that many hours is a little excessive. I hate not having any energy. I do know there is a drug for chronic pain patients to help them stay alert. I can not think of hte name but I know it starts with a P. provigil maybe?? I dunno if thats it or not. Please let us know what you find out on the 19th. Till then, take care.

Yes, my dad's on prvigil (I don't think that's how it's spelled, but I have no idea). He has MS and is always tired, that stuff has helped him a lot. They use it for narclepsy!
