Weight Loss/Loss of Appetite

Weight Loss/Loss of Appetite

I am 32, on no meds, current weight is 185lbs. And Im 5'4". I have lost 35 pounds in 4-5 months. I went from emotional eating and eating/drinking unhealthy (loads of desserts, fast food, carbs, junk) to loss of appetite and I started fearing food. So I stopped all sugar, fast food, and just eat little snacks all day and only drink water. I started googling and obsessing over gyno issue Im having, which turned into obsessing over any health issue. I also have severe lower back pain that depresses me, and dental issues that depresses me. so depressed and so anxious. I've been homebound for about 5 months as well, haven't even been outside.
So my question is, is this weight loss normal? I need to loose weight as you can see still in the "obese" category. But now Im obsessing over the weight loss.

Hey Katie,
Wow, so sorry to hear your story.  I've been struggling recently but seems nothing compared to what you must be going through.  It sounds to me as though you're loss of appetite is secondary to your depression.  Not wanting/enjoying food is a pretty classic symptom of being depressed.  It might be good to lose some weight but not in this way.  You need to focus on the underlying problem here which is your mental health.  Do you have anyone around you to support you?  Have you seen a doctor at all?  I'm sure they would be able to come over to your house if you can't face going out.  Or maybe it might be a good way to get out - to go to an appointment.
Try and stay strong, you're not alone and it doesn't always have to be this way.

I am terrified of doctors/hospitals, so no, I haven't gone to one in a few years. I tried Prozac once, but didn't help. No support, no friends.

Hey Katie,
My heart goes out to you. I know it's so hard but sitting in the house surely isn't the way to get on top of things.  Have you thought about just going out for a few minutes each day to start with and going up by a minute a day or something. What about just a walk to the shop etc?
I know the feeling of finding doctors scary.  Have you thought about getting a self-help guide delivered to your house or as an e-book?  It might help to read through some guidance and hear other peoples stories? I'm doing a blog at panicrelief.co.uk and recently listed a few that I have heard good things about. It might be worth a shot?
Really hope you're feeling better soon

I have severe lower back pain that goes into my legs. It is constant, I rarely get a break from it. To get out, even for 10 minutes flares it up. I would have to be on pain killers and a anti-anxiety medicine to get out. Between the pain and the panic, it would be a living ****.

Hi Katie, just replied to your post on my thread and have read this thread.  I am so sorry you are in pain.  I have pain from arthritis, but with my arthritis med and pain killer it is lessened.  But I'll tell you about one episode I had with bursitis.  That's inflammation of the bursa which are kind of bags between muscles and bones.  I had to have steroid shots, the first helped and the second didn't.  Eventually the pain went away.  My doc sent me to have an MRI for my hips though.  I haven't seen her since cause the pain went away and I don't think I have a problem with my hips.  Anyway, I'm telling you this in the hopes that some of your pain will go away in time if it's something like bursitis.  I really wish you relief and hope that some of your problems will go away.  Good luck and good health.
