I have been on Fluoxetine for 2 weeks and 1 day now.It seems to be working quite well. It allows me to have a stronger control of my anxious thoughts. They appear to be less powerful and are gradually loosing there hold on me :) I hope it can do the same for you!!! I have got 2 more days on 3/4 of a 20mg tablet before i go onto the full 20mg. I have felt very few side effects other than a bit of shakes. Nothing that would make me even consider stopping them, if it allows me to rebuild my life :) I have tried some counselling which has somewhat helped but I truely think time and persistence is going to be the key to my recovery. Luckily I have been funded to go and see a psych and am hoping I can get some valuable information from that. Thanks for your replies I really appreciate it.
hey turkey!....love the name!!
sometimes witht he meds we have to play cat and mouse to see which one works for us. i started zoloft 23 days ago. and finally i think im starting to see relief. have you been to the psych dr instead of a general doctor?.... GP dont know too much about anxiety and stuff like that so a psych would be perfect. also have you been to therapy at all? CBT really helps and teachs you the skills you need to get thru a panic attack
Hey
how long have you been on the fluoxetine for??? today for me is week 4 and a 1 day i felt good at first but was weaning of effexor at the same time as it didn't seem to be helping me with my anxiety and depression. Iv now been off the effexor 17 days and the last couple of days have gone down hill I carn't seem to work out weather its the withdrawing from effexor or the fluoxetine trying to get into my system and keep me at a steady balance. what dose of fluoxetine are you taking??? I'm currently taking 20mg.
I am on Fluoxetine, will this help speed the process up? I guess it is kind of comforting knowing the reason behind all this and I can just sit back and enjoy things as much as I can...
Hello,
When you do recreational drugs it creates an imbalance in your endorphins that brain makes that makes you feel good. You were creating a artificial high and your brain was pumping so many endorphins on command that now it is having trouble producing the endorphins without the artificial push. It will take months if not years for your brain to go back to its normal chemistry. The only thing I suggest without going to something like paxil is to run or do marathons and obtain a natural runners high and it will train your brain quicker to pump out endorphins on its own without artificial inflation.
Remember to have compassion with yourself and understand it is a chemical problem and is very difficult to manage every day. Other people usually do not understand unless they suffer form depression or anxiety themselves and its best not to get into a huge discussion with them if they aren't willing to educate themselves that this has nothing to do with being lazy but there is a real chemical imbalance and no matter how much you want to be happy you can't get there. Its like having the flu but without body aches or runny nose...the best thing to do is make yourself as comfortable as possible until it passes. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other...keep concentrated on the present not past or future and just don't give up. It looks like it will never end but remember that is an illusion. The balance will come back eventually but stay away from the drugs...it will only make the fall into anxiety and depression worse the next time.
warm wishes,
Autumn
