Whats wrong with me ?

I have this constant thought & anxiety of stealing & shoplifting. Though i have never done it  but lately i have been getting these unwanted thoughts which preoccupies my mind whole time. Am having career stress at the moment. I keep on thinking & get very anxious , nearly mild panic attacks. I am mother of 3 yrs old girl. Such state of my mind has started distressing me a lot & hampering my daily routine. Am unable to concentrate & enjoy the activities i used to do. I also have fear of dirt & contamination . Pls help me, cant figure out whats wrong with me. thanks

Unwanted thoughts such as you describe are often a symptom of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Fear of contamination is a typical manifestation of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Here's a definition I found on the web:

"OCD is a condition that is characterized by intrusive, unwanted, recurrent, and unpleasant thoughts (obsessions) that cause anxiety."

OCD is a real medical disorder, and it can be treated with anti-depressant medication to reduce symptoms, and behavioral therapy. It was probably triggered by the stress you are under at the moment. I have a friend who developed OCD and is doing much better now. I hope you can call your doctor on Monday and get started with some treatment.

Big hugs!
