When the sleep effect of Rameron wear off, would dosage have to be increased?

I was recently prescribed Rozerem  for anxiety and panic attacks starting dosage of 15mg. then eventually up to 30 mg.. It really put me to sleep my first few days  .I am scared to increase the dosage to 10 mg..  My concern is after the sedation wears off, will I have to increase the dosage and will my body grow dependent on it for sleep. I ask my psychiatrist and he said it should not. He said right now he does not know how long I should be on it, but he said for the drug to be effective the dosage has to be at 30 mg. or u to 45 mg.
Has anyone used Rozerem for anxiety for a while at 15 mg. or at 30 mg. and has the need for a higher dosage because you can't sleep once your body gets used to the drug or does it plateau out and you can still sleep on your own?

Is the drug effective for panic attack at 15 mg.?

Hi,
Thanks to  both of you for your responses. I 've tried Paxil, Luvox and Prozac and Zoloft .
The Remeron worked well for  just one day, the next couple of days, it does not help me to sleep any more - this is at 15mg. I'm still on Klonopin for panic attack.Yes, I am fearful that I may depend on it for sleep and needing to up the dosage.

Why anxiety patients are giving remeron is because it blocks off some anxiety receptor in the brain. I am on mid range dose. I never looked to see how much I was taken. I just take it. The less we know about some tablets the better. It works well for me. I wake up. I fall back to sleep. When I missed my doze I could sleep as normal. No problems at all. But I also take klonopin and a small dose of valium. I have stayed away from the valium as much as possible. That is 5mg here and there. Were my doctor wanted me on 4 times that. But I refused. Prefer to take a needed. Klonopin is for the long term anxiety. Works great too. At times it is best to pop them in your mouth and swallow and ask no questions. ( No rude jokes anybody...LOL.. ) As was said above, if it is working, be happy with it. I have never had to up the amount at all. Same amount I was placed on a few years back.

HI there! Remeron is a pretty commonly prescribed sleep aid, and I have personally seen with my patients that it works pretty well.  I haven't typically seen that people require too many dosage adjustments.

As a rule, any medication used for insomnia should be temporary, simply b/c in the long run, it can make sleep issues worse.  This is something you would have to discuss with your doc and weigh the risks/options.

Remeron is actually an anti-depressant, and your doctor was right in that it doesn't have too many anti-anxiety qualities.  In SOME people, it may worsen anxiety a bit.  Have you tried any other medsto help treat your panic attacks?  Like an SSRI antidepressant med, like Zoloft?

If the med is working, then why are you fearful? Is it not working as well for the insomnia?  Are you just concerned that you will require many dosage adjustments?

Hi,

Forgot to ask you when you woke up for two hours can you go back to sleep or do you have to take something else? When you ran out of the med. were you able to sleep without it? Do you know what dosage you are on? Mine is a little white long tablet for 15 mg.. Generic name is Mirtazapine. Is it effective for anxiety and panic attacks ? My psy. said it's not  effective for panic attacks and wants to keep me on Klonopin. Did you have to up your dosage in the past two yrs.?
thanks.

Hi,

I am sorry I meant Remeron . Mine is just a tablet and does not dissolve. Is it effective for anxiety? I am going to re-post the question so people can be clear.
thanks for your kind response.

Just to help us out. You have mentioned two different names, Are you on about Remeron? Known as Zispin over this side of the world? It can be a small yellow tablet or can come in a sollutab. Disolves on the tongue. If it is that one you are on about I am on over two years now. Yes it puts me to sleep. But I find I can wake up two hours later and be very awake. Not even sure of the dosage I am on. But it is on the mid side. Not the highest and not too low. I have ran out of them once and had no ill effects at all. Thought it would have been a nightmare. I was surprised. Felt no different at all. Having missed my nighly dose. But having said that we should never stop taken tablets by ourselves. One missed dose is just that. Had I of missed two of three doses it may have been a whole lot different. But I think it is a great tablet. I love it. Probably because I hate swallowing tablets and have the sollutab version and have never had any side effects at all from it. May be a different tablet you are on about. If so I am sorry in advance. Just the name in your heading made me think of remeron. I might be even spelling it wrong as we don't call it that over it.
