Why am i feeling numb, dizzy and feel like i'm going to pass out?:(

Ok so..i'm 15 years old and i smoked pot. & maybe 3.. or 5 minutes after i felt like i was going to pass out, my whole body was getting numb, my heart was beating SUPER fast & so i went to the hospital & they said everything was fine. Then 2 weeks later.. actually yesterday 12/15/11 , me and my dad were at target buying me supplies that i needed for my final on geometry.. but as we were in line.. i started to feel very weird and next thing you know, i started to feel numb, then my heart started pounding fast !! my dad told me to calm down because the reason why i was feeling numb was because i was breathing extremely fast.. so i tried to calm down.. but it didn't work. so i started to panic even more. and as we got in the car, i told my dad to take me to the hospital..again. so we arrived at the hospital & right away, i started to feel dizzy, i felt like i was going to black out every time i would try to calm down or close my eyes for a quick second. it literally felt like if i was going to die. & the crazy thing is, i didn't even do pot that day. i was sooooooo nervous. and scared. it's the worst feeling a 15 year old kid could have. sometimes i just feel like crying because i don't know how to get rid of it. Even if the doctors said i'm going to be fine & that it's just anxiety. & that i'm just stressed, that's probably why it's happening, i don't feel fine. i hate going to the hospital every time i have these. i hate going to the nurses office almost everyday BECAUSE i feel this way. Its really not a pleasant feeling. & For all you people out there that are going through the same thing i'm going through, you made me feel ALOT better, because it made me feel like i'm the only one. So, my question is why am i getting "anxiety" all the time? why do i feel like every time i have a anxiety attack i'm going to die? how do i get rid of it?

anxiety is not contagious.

good for your for reaching out for help and to find some that experience similar things. It helps alot.

I thought I would share what has helped me alot to re-train my brain and change how i handle those times when i experience panic.

look into Eckhart Tolle, his power of now books and cds also Kabit-Zinn or just google mindfulness for anxiety, don't pay for anything on the web except books as there are many free things out there. Eckhart is also on facebook if you have a acct. anyway, might be a possible option for you.

Hi.  Panic attacks are extremely scary and we do feel like we could die.  But as scary as they are....they're really harmless.  What happens is out "fight or flight" mode kicks in and our brain floods our bodies with adrenaline so we are able to protect ourselves or run to safety.  The problem is that we aren't in danger when this is happening so our bodies don't know what to do with this extra adrenaline and it results in a panic attack as our bodies try to handle the overload. Anxiety can have a root cause which can be a traumatic event from our past which we never truly dealt with, and it comes back in the form of anxiety demanding to be dealt with.  With therapy you can learn if this is your case, learn what happened and deal with it in a healthier way to end the panic attacks. For many we never learn why we have anxiety...we just accept that we have it and do what we can to control it.  This means taking medication, and that's okay.  It's like being diagnosed with any other medical condition that requires daily medication to control the symptoms.  Your parents need to have you evaluated and in therapy to help you with this....it won't get better on it's own.  You have to learn "what" is causing them and overcome it, or you need to take medication.  It is anxiety but nobody is telling you what to do about it.  Talk to your parents about getting you medical help for this so you can live a life free of panic attacks.  You're not alone, we hear from a lot of teens feeling just as you do, but know there is help.  Exercise is good for anxiety and deep breathing exercises.  When our anxiety is high we tend to breathe in a shallow way and this leads to dizziness.  So when you start to feel anxious take several slow, deep breaths in thru your nose and out of your mouth. You're going to be okay and we're always here for you!
