Why does my heart beat harder than what it should?

Why does my heart beat harder on some days more than others?  It's like sometimes my heart gets over stimulated quicker more than other times as if the adrenaline kicks up twice what it should.  I do suffer from anxiety time to time, any links?  If not, what are these "sharp" over-excited sensations that affects my heart beating harder and faster?

GUYS I HAVE FOUND THE CURE TO WHY THE HEART BEATS HARD!!!

I took this advice from a man in youtube his a REALLY great herbalist, herbsplusbeadworks (video is for the heart from the heart). He advice me to take natural medicine which is magnesium citrate 100mgs taurine 500mgs and arginine 1000mgs done 3-5 times a day.

The first day i took it my heart immediately became normal and stopped beating hard because it was getting so annoying even though my specialists told me its normal but i know not a normal heart beats that hard for nothing. It has also helped me with my anxiety a little or i think dramatically!!! The butterflies feeling in my stomach has gone! I think it also helped me through the power of Jesus (Yasoh) please pray and be well. I have only started taking it 3 days ago. Any questions please email me on ***@****

PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE THIS MSG!

That's what anxiety is all about.  You do tend to focus on health, pain, death, etc.  Go to a doctor that is familiar with GAD an panic disorder.  They can make a big difference.  The heart pounding is part of the whole picture.  Most of us have that initial symptom that let's us know we are about to have a panic attack.  Mine was a hot flash and burning in my chest.  When I hit menopause it was confusing.  Couldn't tell one hot flash from the other.  I began having anxiety all the time.  There is help.  I was a mess and I am doing wonderfully at the moment!

Thanks guys!  Yes, I do get anxiety pretty bad and I do have some bad panic attacks from time to time.  2 years ago I swear the whole year was just non-stop worry and panic attacks happened often, but that was before I learned about the disorder and found out why it happens.  So I can see that having something to do with my heart...

But the past two years I've been doing pretty well, I probably went a year and a half without a panic attack, and then one day I got out of my car to go to work and I felt a tightness in my chest.  It felt tight the whole 5 or 6 hours I was there and it lead to a panic attack, I asked to go home for "a headache" (was my excuse).  I don't know why I had a anxiety that day, I didn't think I was THAT stressed :/  My chest even felt bruised around my sternum the next day...  And when I got like that is when the thing happened that I first explained with my heart beating harder.  It's like a feeling that every slightest emotion almost "startles" my heart into beating harder or even faster.  Like it didn't take much to startle it.  I mean, what does that mean?  It's hard to find info on why that "startle" thing happens to me or anyone else thats had that.  Sometimes I can control this and some days it controls me.  And sometimes I have heart palpitations out of the blue...  I'm thinking it's all in my head though, being too focused on what my body does...  What do you think?

There is a whole suite of possibilities that can cause this-  anxiety certainly can do it, as can diet, as the answers here have shown. It's also possible that your blood pressure is rising at times for these same reasons, too. Another possibility is that for some reason adrenaline is getting dumped into your system, your awareness of your pulse is raised, as well- you're simply noticing more as a side effect of the physiological things going on... and finally, it's possible that nothing physical is happening, and you're simply hyperfocused as part of generalized anxiety. The best thing you can do is monitor your diet and health daily to correlate the causes, and double check with your physician for more answers.

Both good answers. Have you ever had panic or anxiety attacks? Also do you drink more caffine on some days and not others?  Acid reflux can cause it too. Like there are days that I eat spicy foods or stuff that don't agree with my system and my heart beats faster. There are many different things that can cause a fast heart rate.

Sounds like you are having little adrenaline rushes for no reason.  Anxiety can do this.  It's that "fight or flight response".  Panic attacks can feel like this, but are usually more pronounced.  Have your doctor give you a thorough check-up and let us know how you do.
