Why does my mood change all the time?

Hello, I'm 14 and my mood will change over 35 times a day. i will be happy then 10 minutes or so later i will be angry and it repeats through out the day. It bothers me all the time. I keep a mood tracker for my Doctor/Psychiatrist. Is this manic deppression?

Ahhh the challenges of a teenager.  I bet a lot of it is hormones.  I used to go through so many mood changes.  It's like you have no control over yourself and your feelings when the hormones/puberty is in full swing.  I am new to this site also and I have to say it is a wicked place to talk about your moods, when your up, down... questions about anything when it comes to the mind and body really.   I find the mood tracker is great.  The sleep one and food one is excellent also.  Your hormones can be really effected by sleep, diet and excersise.

Any questions...just ask!  When you think your alone in your "head space"...remember there are so many supportive people here that understand what you are going through.

You could have bipolar disorder but its not common in people ur age! Id say it probably hormones! But u need to tell ur psych how much this is affecting your life. Counselling, therapy, and lots of support around you will all help. Take care x

Wow. That's a lot of ups and downs in one day! I can understand why it bothers you. What I can't understand is that your psychiatrist is not giving you some answers! Have you been seeing this p-doc for awhile? I'm just thinking that perhaps he/she may want to see a few weeks or perhaps a months worth of what you note in your mood tracker before they mame a diagnosis.
I am totally unqualified to tell you if this is manic depression or not. At 14 it could simply be related to puberty and out of whack hormones, but again, that is just a guess. It's possible your doc will have you get some bloodwork done which would rule that possibliltiy in or out.
While I can understand how frustrating, even frightening this could be, know that you have a highly trained professional working on it with you and he/she will help you as soon as they have a clear picture of what's going on. This is easy for me to write and undoubtably difficult for you to do, but hang in there as best you can. Keep up with your mood tracker and if you ever feel you just can't take it for one more minute, then call your psychiatrist and tell them that.
If you are comfortable talking to your parents, share these feelings with them. They love you more than anyone in the world and their support right now sounds like something you could use.
Actually I think you're lucky you have a psychiatrist who doesn't just want to start throwig pills at you.
I believe an answer will be found and a treatment plan put into place. In the meantime, you just gotta show everyone how strong you can be. So far you're doing an excellent job.
Please let us know how you're doing, OK? And write to us any time you feel the need.
Peace
