Will someone please answer this???

So i stopped taking lexapro 5mg a week 1/2 ago, i suffer from anxiety and panic disorder. Ive been getting dizzy spells at work lately and for a while now i have been convinced i have a brain tumor or something, when i go to my doc he says its a vertigo problem? i cant believe in bc i feel like he knows i have anxiety and probably just thinks im paranoid, which by all means might be so but i would still like my doc to give a damn instead of it being a 3 min consultation. i want to know im not the only one in the world who feels this way, or if i should find another doc? getting off the lexapro is something i really wanted to do and ive been seeing a therapist and venting any stress i might have, also this coming week my 3 daughters,husband and i are moving out of my in laws so im praying after the move ill have less anxiety from the pure fact we have have our own space again... can someone please just be support or give me any advice on the way i feel?

Did you stop your meds cold turkey or did you taper? Sometimes even after you taper off a med you can get dizzy spells, feel nauseous and have rebound anxiety.
I've been on and off many anti depressants and I usually get the dizzy spells for awhile after stopping them.
It's hard to say when this will stop because we're all different. I think you'll start feeling better pretty soon but if it does continue then find another Dr who will listen to you.
By the way, did your Dr check your ears? It might be coincidence but you could be having allergy or ear problems at the same time you've stopped your meds. Take care. Remar

What you're experiencing is very common withdrawal phenomena when d/c'ing these kinds of meds.  The bad news is, the symptoms can be quite bothersome, but the good news is...they will lessen in intensity as time goes by until they go away all together.

Hopefully you tapered off the med, b/c if not..that could increase the severity of your symptoms of withdrawal.  Really not a lot you can do now...you've been off long enough that it wouldn't make any sense to re-start then taper.  If it were only a day or two, that would have been a very logical solution.  Even if you DID taper, some people require a slower taper.

If the symptoms don't start subsiding in the next week or so, then get yourself to the doc to see if he/she has any ideas how to lessen the severity of the effects.

You should be noticing improvement soon, so hang in there!  Update us when you can!

I had dizzy spells and increased anxiety after I stopped taking Lexapro. I took Lexapro for 3 years and weaned off slowly. I think my dizzy spells lasted around 3 weeks after I stopped taking Lexapro. It will get better - hang in there.

Dizzy spells are also a very common anxiety symptom.  When I first started getting anxiety attacks I thought I had vertigo, but it turned out to be from the anxiety.  So it could be withdrawal and it could be your anxiety getting worse because you're no longer on a therapeutic dose of a medication that was helping you.  Can't tell you which is which, though.
