I have not been put on anxeity meds.
No I have been put on anxiety meds. The plan was to see a cardologest first then get evaluated after that. The meds I am taking is
Procardia XL 90 Mg. Once a day. (BP med)
Qvar 80 inhaler 2 puffs twice a day.
Omeprazole 40mg. Once a day. (heart burn)
I was taking asprin 81 mg before but it was hurting my stomak so i stopped taking that 6 months ago. (Dr told me too.)
Also my total cholestrol is 220. that test was done in early november.
Since then i have lost 15 pounds. With out really trying.
Also my BP is at ave. 130 over 80.
Any advise would do me some hekp thank you.
Usually BP meds will cause your pulse to go down. I'm not very familiar with these meds though so hopefully someone that does know alot about them will respond.
It does sound like the stress is from worrying about your health. Please remind me if you're Dr prescribed anything for anxiety.
Thank you for your respons. See my problem is the wate they got me on. It took 4 long months to see a Cardiologest. And I still need to take more heart test in a few weeks. The Heart Dr. told me it is a good chance that the BP meds (Procardia XL) I am taking can be causeing my high pules. But he does not want to take any chances. So more test will be done. Its very hard sitting around worrieing and wateing. Will I have a Stroke heart attack etc...And what makes matters worse is go to a clinic and I have had 3 Differnt Drs. tell me diffent things. I truely think think all this stress over my health and all this diffent meds. Have caused me problems.
If it is anxiety I have no pronblem accepting that. And I want to seek help. But I just feel tha that the health system is putting me threw hell.
Anxiety can some times cause stomach issues. I think alot of us here on this forum have stomach problems. I know when my anxiety is really high my stomach is a mess.
I think you're too young for a stroke. Have you ever had vision problems before? There have been times when my vision is really weird, and I know it's because of my anxiety. You have to think about possible allergies too. It's that time of year for pollen and such. If it is allergies that can mess with your vision because of the sinus pressure. Anxiety can also cause the lightheaded feeling.
Can you think of any reason you may be stressed? Other than the obvious stress of worrying about your health. Of course that would stress you out.
I'll have to research your inhaler. If it has a steroid in it, which it may, that can cause anxiety for some people.
I agree with what Nursegirl said. Go in for a checkup and if everything comes back fine then think about therapy and possible meds to help with your anxiety. I do understand how hard it can be to accept that you do have anxiety and nothing physical is going on. It's best to get checked out though to make sure you're not low on vitamins, your thyroid is alright, things like that.
We're here to listen and help anyway we can.
Ok I am back It has been a long ride. And I am still now out of the woods.
Took a PFT test for my lung function. Witch thank goodness came back normal. I am trying to quit smoking I have cut my smoking down. I am almost ready to quit. But am still on the inhaler QVAR.
Finally got to see the Heart Dr. I will take be taking tests on my heart in a few weeks for my high pules. Cuz I cant take this high pules thing any more.
Also got my Thyroide tested and ultra sound of my kidneys. Wateing on thoughs results.
Every day is hell worreing about this stuff. Then about 3 weeks ago I woke up with a pain in my left eye. And my vision was a little blurry for about 6 hours. My vision is good now but I keep getting minor headaces hear and there With light headedness. Can I be at major Risk for a stroke or am i just over antlzing causeing anxiety. I will be vey happy over any advise.
No chocolate, spicy foods, raw vegetables or salad?
I am on just about as bland of a Diet as you can get. I hardly drink beer any more. Only on a social occasion. And that is very low amounts. Caffinie very limited maybe 1 soda here and there.
My biggest problem is smoking. If I can kick that habbit I will be in better shape I hope. But Still these other health problems still get to me. I just hate taking so muck medication.
If you can find a way to quit smoking I bet a lot of the anxiety will disappear, so there is hope.
What about my question about a bland diet?
Thanks Your advise is very good. See I am at the point to where I want a correct dignosses. I recently changed Drs. Becuase I felt my old Dr. was not helping me. So I want to have everything ready for my new Dr. I really want to get this sorted out. If it is anxiety that is the cause. I will have to get help.
I have gastritis, occassionally take prilosec too, and know from other's comments that GERD can be depressing or cause anxiety. I even went on Celexa last year because I mixed up my gastritis signals and thought I had anxiety. It is frightening when you get a nausea spell from nowhere and all the little sick feelings can make you think you are anxious with butterflies instead of fighting heartburn. Have you switched ot a bland diet to help your GI tract?
Anxiety makes the chest muscles pull which makes you wonder if you are having a heart attack, so the chest pain on and off might just be anxiety. You have the high BP though, so only a doc can advise you. You will see many people on the anxiety board wondering if they have a heart problem despite a trip to the ER and the all clear from an ECG.
The doc just said to use the inhaler while you were smoking so if you can quit it sounds like you might be ok, if that is any comfort to you. This isn't a smoking forum and I am not very qualified to talk about smoking, so I won't bring it up again.
Yes I have looked into all of it. Now you got me even more worried. Thankx
The fact your doc told you to keep using it as long as you smoke means it is serious. Have you looked at the MH forum on smoking? Tried the patch, meds, hypnosis?
Thank you nursegirl. But that is what is bothering me the most is my age. I am taking way to much medication. I have gotten a second opinion. And the new Dr. Agrees that is to much meds. I just cant help worrieing that the smoking has damaged my health for good. I guess all I can do is wate.
Well, you're probably not getting answers because there ARE no answers, especially if a lot (or all) of this is related to anxiety. Your doctors are trying to assess the issues the best they can.
A lot of people spend a lot of time chasing their tail, convinced there is a medical cause for their symptoms, disregarding the possibility of it being anxiety related...even if their doctors tell them that.
It's important you rule out medical issues, but with your young age, not going overboard there. If a medical problem, cannot be found, that's usually because there isn't one. The actual number of people that have a rare, hard to find medical problem is so low, it's not significant. Keep that in mind as you continue trying to figure this out.
Thank you nuresgirl What is really making me crazy is the fact I really get no awnsers from the Drs. It really makes me worrie.
Yes I am trying like crazy to quit somking. But its very hard. I was told by my old Dr. to keep using the inhaler as long as I am smoking. But I was never given a real reason why to take an inhaler. Looking back on it these problems started ever since I started takeing that.
I also think it sounds a lot like anxiety. The best thing you could do is continue working with your doctor, and once a medical cause is ruled out, then ask for a referral to a mental health specialist who can help you address the anxiety.
Have you tried to quit smoking? You are on an inhaler at an early age, so I presume you have been advised what it will be like if your lung issues progress to emphysema and an oxygen tank.
These symptoms started way after the inhaler. But I have been wondering if the Procardia has something to do with is? Looks like a long list of side efects. Also before I started getting this way a few weeks before I did a routeen blood panal. And everything came back normal execpt my cholestral was high. Is there a chance something could of changed since then? Thankx for the help. All I want to do is fix this. And get the right help.
It does sound like possible anxiety. When you see your Dr you might want to ask for some tests. Thyroid being the first one. If your levels are'nt normal it can cause weight loss, heart palps and anxiety. Did these symptoms start before or after you were put on the inhaler?
