I think what needhelp4me434 meant was that there is an underlying issue as to why you are having these anxiety attacks that need to be addressed, and that the medication you are on only helps take away the symptoms, and that you have to play a part in recovering from and eliminating them. This is where things like therapy, CBT, exercise, proper diet and stress management come in...the benzo's will help you get THROUGH a panic attack, which is great help, but what needs to be addressed is WHY you are having panic attacks.
Good luck.

Like what? can you tell me what I need to do to prevent those panc attacks.
I went to a psyciatrist and he said taht either SSRI's or benzo's. since my panic attacks are acute, he thought that benzo's during an attack would be the best. He really wanted me to go ion Klonopin but it smells so string and I took it once it did not kick in quick enough during an attack. Now he gave me xanax and Ativan, he said that if I feel like anxious, take Ativan, 0.5 mg and the next day half of the dose. And stop it.
If I get a panic attack than take the Xanax to stop it quickly.
for me xanax worked best for acute, i take ativan for maintenence. this works very well for me. remember though, it takes more than meds to control anxiety.
