Xanax, Vicodin, Prozac

I have been on Xanax 1mg/tid for almost 22 years (panic attacks and GAD). I also have been
on Antidepressant for about 30 years. For backpain I received Vicodin and I became so happy,
that I thought, finally, something kicked in. Well the Vicodin was my downfall, sometimes after
taking it for about 3 months, I would take 2 Vicodins q 2 or 3 hrs. to have the same "happy"
effect. No spaced out or anything, could think clearly, and then after about 9 months, boom,
I was a wreck. Went to Detox, which inself was the most horrible experience in my life so far,
I thought this is it. Afterwards my Doc would not give me anything, other than Lexapro. Well the
first night I walked the hallway, GIVE ME SOMETHING, I WILL CRAWL UP THE WALLS,
PLEASE. That is how I got started with .5 mg Klonopin 3/tid, and now am on 1 mg tid, probably
for the rest of my life. But the Depression has gotten worse, and I have taken every Antidepressant on the market,
next step???? Either death or Shock Therapy. BTW I am a Nurse and can not help myself. Sad.

hi. same  problem as yours. the vicodin is making me crazy. the doc put me on  a tiny dose of zyprexa at night. it is a phycotic med as you being a nurse know that. i took my first dose last night. i am so depressed and anxious at the same time. the doc wants ,to take it along with my celexa. i am on the max dose of it. she wants me to get me calmed down  so i can wean off the vicodin. i am very afraid of this drug. but i know docs are using it with antidepressants to help with depression. so maybe it will work. all i know is that i need to get off the vicodin bad. i take 3 ,10mgs of it a day . it used to make me happy but now it is causing me to to have panic atttacks and terrible ddepression. i guess i will try it and see what happens. as i said i am to take a very small dose. i hope you get help with your depression .

Are you still taking the Xanax?  Why did you switch to Klonpin? I have used both meds and did a lot of reading up on them and one thing they do say about Klonopin is that it can in some cases make your depression worst. Have you thought about asking the Dr to go back to the Xanax? Did you feel any less depressed on that drug?  Either way I think you may be down bc of the withdrawls from Vicodin. Best of luck to you!
