thats a very low dose. i wouldn't worry too much. i would try to explore the reasons you cant sleep, though. maybe look into methods that can help you relax in the evening and perhaps result in being less dependent on xanax to produce sleep. just a suggestion though. i couldn't hurt. generally speaking, people with xanax addictions are taking 8 to 12 times the dose you're taking on a daily basis. addiction can occure at much lower doses...but generally at the dose you're taking, a psychological dependancy doesn't develop. i suppose a physical dependence could occure, in which case you would want to talk to your doctor when/if you decide to go off of it.

Xanax, when used properly, is NOT a "bad medicine." ANY med, including a low dose aspirin could be considered "bad" if abused. You are taking a very small dose to help you sleep and are NOT abusing it!
Does it still work for you? Are you finding that you've have to increase the dose to fall asleep? If the answer is no to these questions, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
But since you now have a fear of this drug, you should probably discuss it with your doctor. There are numerous sleep aids out there you could try. More importantly, I would discuss with my doc the REASONS you have trouble falling asleep. SOMETHING is causing this problem. Figure THAT out and you may not need ANY medication at all.
Bear in mind that ANY sleep aid, even an OTC product, can, over time, cause you to develope a belief............real or imagined, that you cannot fall asleep without it.
Food for thought.
Best of luck
Peace

In the above post, I asked you two questions.........one being "does it still work for you?" I then said that if the answer to these questions was no, you had nothing to worry about. That should have been "if you answered YES to the first and no to the second.........."
Sorry for the error...........
