Because xanax is very addicting and is typically not used for everyday use because of it's short half-life. It leaves the system very quickly and rebound anxiety occurs. KlonopinKlonopin Klonopin wafer seems to be preferred these days because it is smoother and has a longer half-life. Valium is also another one that has a longer half-life. Xanax, Lorazepam are short acting benzo's and are a good choice for occasional use such as a panic attack coming on but the longer acting benzo's are preferred for longer term use. However, if xanax works for you then by all means consider keep taking it or try xanax xr which is a slow released capsule. Just talk to your doc and don't be afraid. They deal with it all the time.
Thank you for the information! Im sorry to keep bothering you, but do you think that if i was put on klonopin it would be the same dose or less. and also, my fear is that he would take me compleatly off of the benzos because of potential addiction and that would be a horrible thing for me right now, thats why iam worried to ask him. and i think that at one point i was going to be prescribed xanax xr but the price was outragious and i have no inturance.
ps. your information is greatly helping me. thank you again.
