Please see site benzo.org.uk. The "benzo's just cause rebound anxiety.  They cause so much damage. Getting of of them is worse than herion. Beleive me I know. It can take a year or more! You are in withdrawal between pills!

generics are exactly the same, you might think in your head that they are, but there not. i don't say this as a dic*, but someone who's family member who's high up on the latter @ a pharmacutical company. I know my benzo's and the generic vs name brand is all over doctor office's.(the only difference is the binder's) xanax is a fast acting benzodiazepine with a shorter haft life than clonazepam(klonopin). its less addicting and not as strong, dosn't hit your bloodbrain barrier as hard to get to that gaba receptor if that makes any sence to you. the ratio you were prescibed is about right, it dose the same exact thing in your body except you don't feel it as much. xanax is strong and very likable...

Just in case you wonder which is stronger. Here is a run down of a few tablets

1mg Ativan = 0.5mg Klonopin = 25mg Librium = 15mg Tranxene = 10mg Valium = 0.5mg Xanax.

You will be taken a lesser dose on the Klonopin. So you may feel some withdrawls. Have a word with your doc about these.

Every perosn and every drug is different. Some people responds well on one med and not so good on another. Why you are switching to clonazepam? Its xanax not working for you?. Personally I do fine with clonazepam. If I take 0.5mg in the morning I can stay all day without symptoms (fear, dizzy, anxiety, etc). I have tried Xanax also, but I didn't feel any effect for my symptoms, and makes me feel drowsy, clonazepam doesn't makes me feel drowsy. I hav also tried lorazepam, bromazepam, but definitely clonazepam is the med for me.
Give it a try, hope works for you. Just be careful if you have to stop, like the other benzos, you have to wean off slowly.

Klonopin won't lose it's effectiveness the way xanax does. You won't get as hooked on Klonopin. Klonopin are easier to come off of when needed. Your doctor is aware of this fact too and is smart by switching you over. Better for you come the end of the day.

Xanax is a very shot acting tranquilizer.  It's out of your body in 8-9 hours approxmiately.  Klonopin builds up in your system to help you with your anxiety or panic over 24 hour periods, so if taken regularly, is does not leave your system like Xanax does.

Personally, I would take 1 mg. of Klonopin in at least two separate doses, so there is a steady amount in your system.  Like .5 mg in the morning and .5 mgs. at night.

Good luck to you.
