Exercise is good as it helps get our natural endorphins working again. They get pretty lazy. Just dont overdo it. I too am hoping your tapering is under a doctors supervision.
So basically just dont destroy myself in the gym and ill be good?
Yes, your seizure probably was due to quitting cold turkey. Benzos are also anti-seizure medications, which is one reason never to quit them abruptly. Exercise is a good idea -- I'm assuming from your question you're experienced at it and not just starting out so you probably know what you're doing. Good luck.
Thanks for the advice and support this forum seems like a good plave to come to when im not doing too well on my quest too be drug free. Thank you all (:
Depending on how long you were on the Xanax, 4mg is considered a fairly hefty dose for this particular benzo.
Quitting cold turkey from ANY psychotropic medication is a bad idea, which you sadly found out the hard way. I am glad you are OK from that experience.
I trust you are now tapering under the supervision of a doctor or psychiatrist who knows what they're doing. It is one of the most difficult meds to withdraw from. But if you've gone from 4mg to 1mg, that is excellent. Just be prepared as the last mg is the roughest. Slow and steady wins that race and I wish you the very best.
As far as lifting and doing strenuous activities, I don't believe there is any restriction, but to be safe, run it by your doctor. I would think it would be highly beneficial to be physically active during your taper.
Be proud of yourself and know we are all rooting for you!
Peace
