You mean,0.5? Yes the most you can take is 6 per 24 hours.I would be carefull though and discuss this with a doc its very addictive.
We cannot tell you to change your dosing in any way. Only your doctor can alter your perscription, so until you can speak with him/her, please take your medication ONLY as directed on the bottle.
If you are going to be on a benzo for any length of time, I would talk to the doctor about going on something like Klonopin, which is a long acting med, dosed at least twice a day to keep you "covered" for 24 hours. Klonopin can also be taken for years with very few people needing to increase their dosage. Xanax, on the other hand, is a VERY short acting benzo which is completely out of your system in about 4 hours, which is no doubt why you're asking if you can take it more often. Also, Xanax is NOT recommended for long term daily use beyond 4 months. Tolerance builds quickly with this med. It is an excellent drug for PRN (as needed) use, not more than about 3-4X a week. If you were to find that you needed it more often, then switching to a long term benzo would be the wiser choice.
Please speak with your doctor first. This is a powerful medication that you do not want to fool around with.
