Yes, that's par for the course for anxiety and depression. Just try to hang in there and realize that this will pass with some time!
I'm also not wanting to see my friends, go to the gym or do anything that excites me. I just want to lay in bed and I'm really scared.
That helps a lot. Thank you very much
Is it normal to think very negatively when dealing with anxiety and depression? Like putting thoughts in your head that you don't want? I find I keep thinking I want to break up with my boyfriend and it puts a huge strain on me because its not what I want at all...I can see myself being with him for a long time. Just curious if this is normal?
Ok, well, it's still way too soon to judge how you should be feeling. For one, the Yaz isn't completely out of your system, that can take a week or two to notice a change, and the Lexapro...you have to give that at least 4-6 weeks to be able to asssess how it is working. Plus, the Lexparo can frequently cause initial side effects, one of the most common being an increase in anxiety and feeling very "jittery". That feeling should start to subside in about a week or two.
It wouldn't hurt to talk with your doctor about how you're feeling. He/she may be able to prescribe a short term course of an anti-anxiety med, like Xanax or Ativan, to help with the increase in anxiety caused by the Lexapro.
In addition to that, you're probably going to have to be patient and wait it out a bit...I know that stinks, but time will improve these issues, it's too soon for any real noticeable improvement.
Wish I had someting else to tell you, but that's the long and short of it.
I've been off Yaz for 4 days. I am still taking Cipralex..ive been taking the whole pill once daily for 4 days. I took half a pill of Cipralex 1 month into taking Yaz and I felt a bit better but still on edge all the time..i thought i was better so I just went off it on my own without consulting my doctor and now i feel like ive hit an all time low.
Yes, it makes sense. So, how long have you been off the Yaz, and are you still on the Cipralex (Lexapro)? If so, how long have you been taking the Lexapro, and at what dose?
No, I did not suffer from depression or anxiety prior to taking yaz. I started Yaz on a Thursday and by Sunday I was super excited to see my boyfriend and then that night and the following day its like someone flipped a switch on me..I just felt weird all the time..even with him. Do you know why that is? I started taking Cypralex a month into taking Yaz. I did go off Yaz within 9 days because i thought something was weird...I then started to get my period and my symptoms were still around for the following 2 weeks so I just decided to go back on Yaz because I ruled it out as being the problem. Maybe I didnt give my body enough time to get rid of Yaz.. I heard it takes 2 months to leave your system. Before these 5 months I was on Yaz for about a year i believe and i never had these symptoms...only this time around. I hope this makes sense
It isn't uncommon for these types of meds to cause anxiety and depression, but typically, it will resolve after stopping it...it almost sounds like the anxiety is sticking around, possibly due to a fear reaction of how the intital Yaz-related anxiety made you feel. That can happen...there can be a medical or medication related anxiety that ends up morphing into chronic reactive anxiety.
Have you ever had trouble with anxiety or depression BEFORE taking the Yaz? If so, what kinds of treatments, if any...did you try?
I was on it for 5 months and the symptoms never really went away. I went off it altogether 4 days ago and I almost feel worse. Its making me doubt everything...even with my boyfriend who is wonderful. I feel like someone has taken over my thinking. I don't want to go out and see my friends, nothing excites me and its really worrying me. I feel really bad anxiety but feel a bit calm when I'm with my boyfriend, but even then my mind is racing.
Yes, it can cause depression and anxiety symptoms. For a lot of people, those will resolve after being on it for a week or so, it just depends. Definitely talk with your doc about how you're feeling.
Good luck!
