You want to discuss this with your doctor, do not just adjust the medication yourself. The next likely dose would be 50 mg. Please keep in mind that like when you first started this medication, the same thing applies to dosage changes....you need to give it at least 4-6 weeks to really notice a difference. Some people notice a change much quicker, but still it is necessary to give the medication enough time to do its thing.
Hi,I do choice to up my zoloft dosage to 50mg
And I took it this morning and the effect really amazed me.
I will increase my dosage while having cbt
Ooops, I was going to briefly touch on the Sulpiride. This medication is not used here in the US, so I don't have any first hand experience with it, but I know it is an anti-psychotic medication. Again,in MY opinion...I don't care for the use of antipsychotic meds in some situations. I think they are being overly prescribed as an adjunct therapy before other options are explored.
So, to answer your question, yes, it is likely that you could take the two meds together, although you would be better to discuss that with your doc. Personally, again, I think trying a higher dose of Zoloft would be a better first choice here. If a dosage adjustment of the Zoloft wasn't successful, you could always reexplore your options again. Hope that helps!!!
Personally, I would try the dosage increase of the Zoloft first before trying a new med, especially if the Zoloft WAS working for you. I was in a panic/amxiety support group years back, and I'll tell you that Zoloft was one of the meds that people reported the most significant progress with for anxiety/panic...including my own experience with it, which was very positive. It isn't unusual to require an occasional dosage adjustment with these kinds of meds, and the "dependence/tolerance" issue you are worried about isn't the same as with a med like Xanax or Ativan. Yes, these meds require a gradual taper when being discontinued, and can have some withdrawal effects when d/c'ing, but again, not compared to a benzo. You are on a very low dose and have plenty of room to go up with your dosage. When I took Zoloft, before stopping it, I was taking 200mg daily with no problems, and actually went off of it with no issues whatsoever.
It just makes a lot more sense to stick with what is working than to start over with a totally different medication. How long have you been taking the Zoloft? I found that while I was on it, I required a total of about 3 increases over a period of MANY years.
Of course everyone is different in the way they react to meds, but I just wanted to share both my experience with Zoloft, as well as a lot of other positive input I have received from others who were on it as well.
Let us know what you decided and how you're doing!
