all from anxiety?

by jojled, Jun 07, 2007 12:00AM
can anyone please help put my mind to rest? i've been very anxious for the past month over possible health issues (possible mucous membrane exposure to freeze dried blood). i know there's a very low risk associated with catching anything this way, but, i've been getting symptoms.  i think they may be due to anxiety, though.  can anyone tell me if all the following symptoms can be due to worry?

-minor weight loss despite eating well (this just started so don't know if i'll continue to lose)
-stiff neck
-muscle pain
-headache
-pain in lymphs (may be due to hiv fears)(not swollen, though)
-no fever!
-rash under one armpit (occurred a couple weeks after switching deodorants)

if anyone can assure me this can be from stress or a diminished immune system due to anxiety or something it would help ease my mind a lot until i'm able to get tested for stuff.

thanks

Stress and anxiety can do so much to you.  Try to take a day at a time. What are you stressing about? I read it but I never heard of it  before. We all have fears in our health. You came to the right forum and everyone will help you.  Yes, anxiety and stress can give you those symptons but you need to get a full work up at the doctors.  We are all with you.

thanks for the help! i'm mostly wondering about the weight loss.  it's been about 2-5 pounds in a few days.  also, i've been very thirsty lately and don't have to go to the bathroom during the night anymore.  can anxiety alone cause weight loss despite eating normally? also, can anxiety cause dehydration (does it even sound like dehydration, if so, is it likely to be the cause of the weight loss?)?  i'm new to this anxiety, but i've had it for a while and I'm not sure what it can do?  if it can cause this weight loss, does anyone know a link that states it can cause weight loss despite eating a normal amount? most sites say the loss is from loss of appetite or not eating or vomiting, etc.  i have none of this.

thanks again!

Have you been having diahrrea or "going" more often than normal??

by jojled, Jun 07, 2007 12:00AM
no.  in fact, the only change is that i no longer need to get up once during the night to go to the bathroom, whereas, before, i did.  everything else is normal (food intake, appetite) except the weight loss, thirst, and anxiety.

I know nerves can play a role with your symptoms and weight loss.  however, not to make you nervous, you should go to your doctor to make sure...Just get a physical to rule everything else out and it may even calm your anxiety also.  Hope you feel better soon.

If you were exposed to HIV and even contracted it (which you didn't) you would not have AIDS symtoms already. Your anxiety about it is causing symptoms that mimic what you are fearing. HIV is generally asymptomatic for awhile (correct me if Im wrong). But I've been there done that same thing a while back. You shoud get an HIV test ONLY to relieve yourself, not because you have it, if you dont you will suffer over it. I know its hard to do, otherwise you would have done it already. I have been though the exact same thing years ago. Trust me, suck it up and get tested, it will take a ton off your shoulders.
