thats gotta be rough , i ended up single right before i tried getting off of xanex and being alone and trying to get off is no fun at all , i am still in the process and its not easy but i can tell you that it will get better as long as you taper the klonopinKlonopin Klonopin wafer , make sure you have some kind of supportSupport Support 500 it is crucial in the weaning phase of klonopinKlonopin Klonopin wafer you will need much moral support and if you dont have any use these forums often !!!! and as far as i know u will have to end the klonopin for the time being - talk to your doctor and do your homework on the web !!!! not all doctors are well versed on drugs and might steer you wrong - mine did so i cant enforce enough to od your own research also - good luck and we are all with you :)
None of us is really in a positon to say, with authority, that any particular drug may or may not interfer with your pregnancy and the baby's development. Your doctor IS in a position to say that, and uf you ahve any reason to doubt what the doctor says -talk to another doc. One thing for sure, while the impact of weaning may make life very difficult for a period of months, the impact of NOT weaning may last your life-time -and that of your child.
I strongly suggest some counseling and joining a group of about to be mothers who are dealing with the same thing you are. If you husband is in the service, his base state side may be able to help you. It is paramount that you not be alone in your efforts.
And, as you know, we're all with you here on the forum.
My wife and I just had an unexpected pregnancy and she's on Effexor XR 75mg and the only clinical studies I could find was one here:
http://www.womensbehavioralhealth.org/
which states:
Five prospective controlled investigations of the effects of antidepressant treatment during pregnancy are available. The drugs include the serotonin-selective reuptake inhibitors (SSRI's), tricyclic antidepressants, and venlafaxine. Exposure to these agents did not increase risk for intrauterine fetal death or major birth defects. Decreased birth weights of infants exposed to fluoxetine in the third trimester were identified in one study. The development of children whose mothers took tricyclics or fluoxetine during gestation did not differ from that of controls. Direct drug effects and withdrawal syndromes occurred in some neonates whose mothers were treated with antidepressants near term.
FYI venlafaxine is Effexor. I have emailed the person in charge of the study at the U of Pitt for more information regarding the study and am awaiting a reply
