I had my first anxiety attack in April 2005 and it has been a part of my life since then. I've asked myself the same question many times. The short answer is no. It will not magically disappear the way it appeared. However, it does get better over time and as you learn to manage it. I've found great relief with medication (antidepressant/anti-anxiety) and from my psychiatrist. The thing that I seem to have to fight the most is the phobias. WhatI mean by that is the fear and avoidance of certain situations or things because I'm afraid they will trigger an attack. You really have to fight that and remember that even though it feels terrible it will pass! Over time you will find it manageable. I've been looking into cognitive behavioral therapy too because I feel like I could ease the symptoms if I could learn to control my thoughts or keep them from escalating.
