I think people can even have comfort and peace even if they know they are dying. Sounds crazy, but my grandma died of lung cancer 2 years ago. But she never feared. I remember her saying "I don't want no pity party" when she got diagnosed. She was strong and at peace with herself and god. Just to show you that we can't control everything, but we can control how we look at things.

I have been dealing with anxiety for most of my life, and I can tell you that it can cause the most bizarre feelings and sensations.  Years ago I attended a support group for anxious people.  It was governed by the principles set forth by Dr. Abraham Lowe who wrote the book, "Mental Health Through Will-Training".  That was very close to 30 years ago.  I am going to share some of the facts we were taught about anxiety.  I copied the list out of the book, taped it front and back to a piece of cardboard and I have kept it all of these thirty years.  Anyway, here goes:

1)  Be self-led, not symptom led.  Don't give in to your feelings.  Feelings are not facts.  They lie.
2)  Trust basic functions.  (As we were taught, our bodies won't let us stop breathing despite the most disturbing symptoms of anxiety.)
3)  Symptoms are distressing but not dangerous.  (This is one principle that I've reminded myself over and over and over about a million times!)
4)  You have to have the will to bear discomfort to gain comfort.
5)  Change insecure thoughts to secure ones.
6)  Learn to brave the empty threat of unpleasant sensations and the defeatist attitude of the brain.  Remember, no danger exists and the warning signals flashed by brain cells are false alarms not to be taken seriously.
7)  The body can experience a situation only two ways:  with a sense of security or one of insecurity.  If your attitude is that of security, your entire body will partake of that experience.

Dr. Lowe is long gone and I believe that he wrote the "Mental Health Through Will-Training" book sometime in the 1940's.  There were many, many success stories shared by others who attended the support group and I really believe that we can bear anything so long as we know that it is not going to kill us.  Now, if I can only put those principles into practice for myself!!!!

P.S.  I'm glad that your son is okay.

Best wishes,

Sue

Anxiety can cause anything, but since Celexa can have jaw clenching as a side effect, it could be a lingering symptom of that or it could even be a minor withdrawal.
