anxiety and panic attacks

by jim200, Apr 10, 2008 12:01AM
hello all im a 21 year old guy and for the last 3 years iv been experiencing really fast heart beats. i went to the hospital a few times and they ran all the tests and couldnt find anything wrong with me and suggested im having panic attacks. i get a very rapid heartbeat around 180 or higher and my blood pressure clocked in around 200 over 98 the one time i went to the hospital. i didnt really know that by having a panic attack you can get your heart rate and blood pressure up that high. iv been soo scared inside for 3 years now. i was having panic attacks constently like everyday of the week for like a year. slowly they have subsided but i still have usually like 1 or 2 a month now. iv finally come to the conclusion that the doctors are right and that its panic attacks and not a real health problem. this has honestly been driving me crazy for 3 years. iv tried medication and some therapy but that didnt do much. the first panic attack i had 3 years ago my heart was beating so fast and it kept skipping beats i honestly thought i was gonna die i was rushed in a ambulance to the hospital. it was very horrifying my whole body was completely numb. after i sat in the hospital for 5 hours and they ran all these tests on me and ekg and everything they found nothing wrong and they said i hyperventilated. but the symptoms were very dramatic. i honeslty think iv been suffering from post tramatic stress disorder for the past 3 years since that happened to me. my biggest fear is that i will have another panic attack like the first one which was pretty extreme. can anyone relate

Hi jim, i read about your condition. According to me it is not a critical problem. All the signs which you mentioned are related to stress or anxiety. Do not feel fear about that. I am giving you some  suggestions which you can follow in your daily life to prevent from  panic attacks. Try to take out some time for exercise, you can try yoga or meditation. These exercises prevents you from these panic attacks. If you feel
feel scared then try to calm your mind, take deep breaths, drink water and if required, then visityour doctor.
