anxiety disorder

by anonymous25, Nov 25, 2007 02:16AM
I am 23 and healthy but have had anxiety and panick attacks my whole life on an everyday basis.  I heard that over production of adrenaline can cause the anxiety, the flight or flight hormone sereted from the adrenal glands.  I was wondering If I had an adrenal glands removal, if this would eliminate the anxiety and panick attacks.

Majority of anxiety/panic attacks is caused by an individuals thought process, then turns into a physical symptoms.  Before having body parts removed.  Doctors would try to find the root reason for anxiety/panic attacks, and medicate.  Such as if your adrenal function was diagnosed abnormal, they would medicate first, before surgery.

If your 23 and healthy, consult with a therapist to figure out why, your having anxiety/panic attacks.

I think this is a bit extreme, and I think that you need to find out the basis of your panick attacks. please remember with panic attacks, nothing bad is going to happen! it's all in your mind. Next time you have a panic attack, breath in and out of a paper bag, slowly. The trembling and tingling feeling u get in your hands, is because you're not breathing properly, so you're not getting the right balance of carbon dioxide. This will get your breathing and panicking back to normal within in min. Just calm. Try a small glass of brandy, then a hot cup of milk, and watch something funny on tv-trust me it works. Just remember in your head-NOTHING BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN!
also-if it really is that bad, like mine were, ask your GP about 'Cipralex' it helped cure mine! I get them occasionally, but now I know how to deal with them and they go away quickly x

Taking out your adrenals would leave you with many more problems then you have now.
Talk therapy helps some people, reading about anxiety may help you to figure out ways to help yourself or it may be a chemical imbalance that you need to talk to a psy doc with. I have had terrible anxiety since I was a child and I know how terrible it can be. Please talk to a professional.
