Hello..
I have taken a hiv test which was rapid one but my doctor told me that he can only tell me negative or positive.

Having anxiety about the results of certain tests are very common...I was always a little on edge when I got tested for HIV even though I knew there was really no practical way that I would have contracted it, but it is still a medical test and one can worry about that.  But believe the results of the test and trust that your doctor knows what he/she is doing.

I am not sure what you mean about percentages...it is either a positive or negative result.  This type of test just shows the two results that they can be...please keep us posted!

As we told you in the HIV forum.....the results ARE only negative or positive!!!  I don't know exactly wahat you're looking for?  It's not like other lab values that depend on quantitative numbers.  Either antibodies are found or they are not.

A negative or positive result is all you need.

Thank you my dear friends.
I was looking for some numbers result e.x 0.11......
but my doctor said,he just can tell me negative or positive and no detail of the test.

Also, when i ask then ame of test, he told me its simular to elliza but he couldnt tell hte name of test which make me worry and look for other doctor.I also hope not to had bad neddle,if the clinic isnt professional.

First, any numbers associated with the test aren't important, all that matters is neg or pos!

Second...you weren't tested with a dirty needle...put it out of your mind.

You are over thinking this...

Thank you..
I understand you but my doctor mentioned even hiv postive, he cannot say any detail...its only positive he can say....is that right?

That's correct....what you're missing is there is no "detail" that is needed!  If you DID test POS, it would be POS...and your results would be clarified by further testing.

I don't think you are comprehending.  Your result is either POS or negative....either there would be HIV antibodies present (POS), or there wouldn't (NEG).  That is ALL you need to worry about.

Trust your doc and what he is telling you.  It is not like there is a number and you can be "borderline" pos.  You either are infected or not.  It's quite simple.
