anxiety medication combo

I have been suffering with G.A.D and S.A.D since I was about 10 or 11. For a while I was self medicating taking a lot of pain killers to help. Not only did it help but it also turned out to be my drug of choice. Soon I was taking up to 30 Lorcets a day. I went through rehab and detox and all that and am now sober, but when I got sober there was the anxiety to deal with again. My doctors tried every non narcotic anxiety medicine there is and then stated I dunno what else to tell you, I dont want you on a narcotic. Finally I have had a doctor who prescribed me just colonopin and effexor (effexor which iv'e been taking) and seroquel to sleep. It seems like the best combonation that I've been on so far but I'd like to hear others opinions for chronic anxiety medication combonations. Thanks, Ben

My experience is I had to in order to even get calm enough to focus and listen to take ativan as I couldnt take klonopin, some adverse reaction, these things are good short term, ifyou use it as prescribed.  I am now in recovery and have been for quite sometime. old timers say not anything, but pychiatrists will put you on what you need, at the time.
