anxiety or heart related problem

by john2live, Nov 10, 2009 09:33PM
I am new to all of this and i will try to make this short as possible. Iam male 26 years old. My symptoms all started 2 years ago when i had a back tooth extracted. At the time i noticed swollen lymph node under my chin which is still there. Worried for some time that i had cancer or something serious / life threatining and i still worry now. Then about 4 months after tooth pulled i noticed my skin was senitive to heat from the heater. It was also sensitive to the sun. I dealed with it but still worry. Then 1 full year after the tooth my lymph node still feels like its swollen and then i started getting left side chest pain. I went to E.R and they told me it was anxiety or gerd or something but they said i had cholestoral problem. Went home nothing happened to me but it felt like i was gonna get heart attack. Well eventually that chest problem went away but a few months after that I fainted on my kitchen floor which also prompted an er visit. Same thing they said anxiety. Durring that time I also was experianing twitching all over and it started with my eye. That went away as well. Now last month i noticed a red dot on my tonsil that would come and go but then my left side of tonsil started feeling sore and still is and going to go on 3 weeks of being sore. Then today i am feeling sudden sharp chest pain that is different from the last chest pain i got. Also now i noticed when i go on a elavator after i get off it still feels like as if im still on the elavator. Never felt that in my life. Is this really anxiety thats causing all of this and my chest pain or infection or something or possible heart problem. So many different things and symtoms i feel now for 2 years. I have had a ct scan on my head 2 times. i had ultra sound on liver kidney so on. cbc test done. all they say normal. Dont know what to do anymore about this. Any input would help.

Thank you
Jonathan

Realize I am not a doctor and this is just my opinion.  If you have seen your primary care doctor and that can seem to find anything wrong with your heart or anything else chances are it is anxiety. Your chest pain and fainting can also be caused by panic attacks.

When our body is undergoing anxiety, we can begin to see alot of other health issues since it seems that all the anxiety can weaken our immune systems.

Chest pain, eye twitching, and fainting can all be symptoms of anxiety/panic attacks.

I would suggest seeing your primary care doctor and possibly discuss seeing a counselor or psychiatrist.  They can help you alot with anxiety and hopefully put you at ease.

I also get the elevator problem you were discussing I think it may be anxiety related but I cannot be sure.  I have experienced anxiety for 5 years of my life, and I swore every little thing was wrong with me.  I had every test you can think of only to find everything was perfectly normal with me and sometimes its just your anxiety getting the best of you.  I saw a psychiatrist who put me on medication and now I talk to a counselor to help figure out where the anxiety might be coming from and some techniques when it comes to handling anxiety it has been helping alot, my counselor is fantastic.

Thank you for ur adivce. Is it suppose to cause sudden sharp chest pain that feels like its gonna take your breath away. I mean I keep thinking I am only 26 how can i have a heart problem. I am 6 feet tall at 180 pounds so dont know how i can have a heart problem but I still feel like i have a heart problem cause im having this darn pain. Again thank you

Panic attacks can definitely cause a sharp chest pain that feels like you can't breath.  A lot of people describe panic attacks as if they are heart attacks or it feels as if they are dying.  If the panic attack continues for an ongoing amount of time you can even faint as a result of not getting enough oxygen through your body.

Lots of people who have chest pain actually in the end have anxiety, it is a very common thing to see with anxiety which is scary because most people associate chest pains with heart attacks/heart problems.

can the anxiety make me feel wierd sensations in my head. Like i sometimes feel as if im gonna have an electric shock or something in my brain. It may sound strange but thats really what i feel.

I'm sure it can especially if your experiencing panic attacks and you are losing oxygen to your brain from rapid breathing/hyperventilating.

Anxiety can do awfully strange things to our body, and make us develop scary symptoms.  The "electric shock" feeling is probably your anxiety intensifying, or part of a panic attack.
