i spent hundreds of dollars on various tests and medications to find out that my stiff neck, "pinched" nerves, migraines, and shoulder/back pain were due to severe anxiety.  when i lost my job, many of my maladies diminished or disappeared completely.  if you are not currently seeing a therapist, you may want to consider it to find the specific cause of your anxiety.  maybe it will be something you can change and finally get relief from your pain.

This can DEF. be anxiety! I suffered this year from a stiff neck and lower back for about 2 or 3 months! My neck was just so stiff, and sent shooting pains up to my brain in the back of my head. It stunk!

Finally it went away! Mine also went into muscle twitching all over my body, that stunk too.

Anxiety can do LOTS and LOTS of things to us. Just don't worry about it, and keep doing things to help it.

What helped me the most was Working Out at the Gym. This helped a ton!

Good luck to ya. Bone spurs can't be fun either. My dad has one, and it gives him migraines, but not all the time.

But, I don't agree with your Dr. saying pain goes down and not up... that's not always true. Everything is connected, especially nerves.
