anxiety or underlying problem??PLEASE RESPOND ASAP!!!!!!

i have been having trouble with chest pain since i was 20 or younger and so far there was only one diagnosis that wasn't very convincing! when i was 2o i got pregnant and had my first bad episode at 4 months pregnant and my husband had to rush me to the ER....i couldn't breath, my left arm was tingling, my fingertips were numb, and i had stabbing pain on the left side of my chest. there was not much the doctors could do because i was pregnant so they just figured i was having an anxiety attack....this has happened numerous times (to many to count) the downside is that i smoke but this happened even before i smoked! i also had a heart murmor but was told i had grown out of it when i was 15! can someone give some insight or even questions to ask my doctor when i see him next month!!??? PLEASE!!!!!!??????????!!!!!!!!!!?????????

my mother was just diagnosed with emphysema which her docs think was inherited from my grandfather and my father has GOUT and his doctor mentioned testing for MVP, both of them have to use oxygen my mother also has an ailment that she will not discuss with her kids or family members which makes me think she has cancer, my son asthma, recurrent allergies, accute sinus and ear infections, has had 2 hernia surgeries..............could wondering and worrying about everyone but myself have caused me too make my self have these symptoms???

hiya i too have suffered with your symptoms on and off for 10 or more years, i have had the tests which have all been normal so i have to accept that anxiety can cause the symptoms, i suggest you request some cardio tests just to be sure.
but in answer to your question YES anxiety can cause all these symptoms which is un believable in my opinion but true
let us know what the doc says

I totally agree that a cardiac work-up is in order...not b/c I think there is something horribly wrong with your heart...but because A.) It never hurts to get a once over and B) if you are officially Dxed with MVP...sometimes treating IT will make drastic improvements in the anxiety symptoms.
