Why is it that anxiety makes you get shortness of breath because it feels bad and it bugs

From some people, when they get anxious they basically hold their breath.  The proper way to breathe is from deep in the abdomen, which we do when we're relaxed, but when some people get anxious they breathe very shallowly.  That's why most therapists teach breathing exercises, taken from Buddhist, Hindu, and Taoist practices, to teach us how to breathe deeply.

Don't really want to sound like my avatar looks.....LOL......but just FYI, it's really best if you put ALL of your concerns and symptoms into the same post. Starting a new thread for each one gets confusing and unfortuantely it also causes some of your posts to get ignored as we assume you've already told us everything. If you think of something you'd like to add, go back to your original post and add it there. By doing that, it will "bump" your post back to the top and we'll know that you've added something or have responded. Keeps the thread going in a straight line, ya know?
Thanks

This is like a conversation between those 2 blokes who used to sit on the balcony seats on the muppet show. LOL. Back and forth. I'm loving it. Just waiting for Gonzo to pitch in with his horn noise. LOL.

"Why is it that anxiety makes you get shortness of breath because it feels bad and it bugs "

It's that old "fight-or-flight" response again.  Acceleration of lung activity due to this response causes short, quick breaths, near hyperventilation.

Take Paxiled's advice and work hard on deep breathing, or belly-breathing as it is sometimes called.  Any time you catch yourself NOT utilizing deep breathing is a good time to do it even more.  Practice this breathing technique as much as possible and it may become more second-nature to you, thus reducing these feelings of shortness of breath.  It has done WONDERS for me.

Watch a baby breathe....you'll see their stomachs fill and release as they breathe.  This is what you want to achieve.  Society has taught us, as adults, to "suck in our gut" to look good for the opposite sex.  The leads to breathing with the chest and not the diaphragm, which leads to shallow breathing.  Unlearn this.
