Thanks for the wonderful information. I have seen the therapist 3 times and we talk about situations in my life that mayb causing the anxiety. I have been trying to change my negative thoughts to a positive thoughts. She taught me how to meditate and try to think of the good in life. i havent seen here in a month because i have started summer school and doing an internship this summer, but i will get back and see her soon. I am going to make an appt with my doc. on Monday to get checked. Its not that i am ashamed of meds. I have a fear of taking pills. I have been like this all my life, so if one day i cant take the pill i wont take it. I have got a lttle better with taking them but the fear is still there. and i dont like the fact of taking anti-depressants because they make me feel weird.
It sounds like you are making all the right moves. What did the therapist you saw on campus have to say? Are you still seeing them? You say you now have insurance, so have you made an appointment with your doctor yet? You need to have a good physical exam to rule out any organic reasons for your anxiety, and then get with a therapist to figure out where it's coming from.
I applaud you wanting to get through this without medication, but please try to accept that a short course of meds does not mean that you will be on them for the rest of your life. There is no shame in taking meds, IF that is your reasoning, or if it's more of a "lifestyle" decision, then you need to weigh the benefits of your beliefs against how you are currently feeling. But that is a decision you and your doctor will make together. Just remember that you do NOT have to take any med your doctor prescribes if you don't want to. If he or she INSISTS that it is the only way you will feel better, then find another doctor. Perhaps you would do better with a holistic doc?
But the answer to your question of what you should do for your situation is simple........see a doctor!
Good luck and keep us posted, OK?
Peace
