Is 4mg of ativan to 1.5mg of clonazepam a drop in medication, becuase i'm having withdrawals symtoms such as irritability, jitteriness, and wanting more meds a half an hour to an hour before my next dose. I have been on the clonazepam for 5 days now. Can someone please help?
hi,
Ativan is a mid-acting benzoBenzo-o-stetic compared to clonazepam which is long-acting. ativan's half-live is 14 hours, but clonazepam's is between 20-50 hours. thus, you are experiencing the symptoms you mention simply because it take a lot longer for clonzepam to start kicking in. are you taking 1.5mg clonazepam only once a day? klonopin is best when taken over a course of twice or three times daily.
as far as dosing, ativna's max dosing is 10mg daily and klonopin's is 4mg daily. it's difficult to compare them dose for dose because of their very different half-lives.
you may benefit from a slight increase in the dose of clonazepam, dividing it into three times daily or over time your body may become accustomed to it.
im dosin 3 times a day at 0.5mg first the doc dropped me to 0.5 mg of clonazepam a day. i had to get it uped twice cause my symptoms were drastically brutal.i was goin into mild cunvulsions shakin sweatin stuff like that.it kinda scared me a lot. im going in to see if he can get me of of this drug does anyony have any recommendations about going off the clonazapam.oh by the way its only beeen 5 days since ive been on the 1.5 mg a day 3 times a day..
so where u on 4mg a day of ativan and now u swtiched to clonazepam? if so i think the taper/addition of klonopin/lclonazepam has to be done miticulously. ask RCA/Ryan about this. he as schedules for things like this and for tapering successfully. i know valium is used alot to get people off of clonazepam along with a taper schedule. i'm pretty sure the klonopin isn't causing the shakiness and sweating. it's either withdrawls from the ativan or your underlying anxiety returning. 4mg of ativan a day is a pretty high dosage and klonopin takes a good 2 weeks to to reach a steady level in your blood plasma levels and give you the desired effect.
