I have a question for anyone who can help, I have been on Clonazepam for 5 1/2 yrs. I was on Ativan for 2 years on an as needed basis.... I never abused them and about 4 months ago with the advice of my quack I took the ativan with the Clonazepam 2mg/daily; I know stupid...(trust me I am paying for it now) I was never on high doses of clonazepam,
I have never exceeded 0.75mg, my question is, I started the Ativan weaning in Feb, I am now down to 0.80mg from 2mg, so I have dropped 1.20mg in 3 months.... Does anyone know if I can taper at a rate of 10%?, or is that too fast...
if I can that would mean i would be off the Ativan in 2 1/2 mths... Is this viable? I just want to be off this garbage I am getting old 24 yrs old and nothing in life.... after the Ativan then it's Klonopin time.... Wow can I make it through this? I hope so...... My doc is such an incompetent @$$h*&*......... Hopefully I have half a brain left.... SIGH>>>>
Ok, I want to be completely clear on this: You are on clonazepam and never exceed .75mg but you started taking ativan along with the clonazepam and it is the ativan that you started taking at 2mg/day. Is that correct? Now you are trying to get off the ativan and you are down to .80mg How often do you take the clonazepam per day and what is the dose each time. The same question for the ativan...how often/day and what is each dose. Are you on any other medications?
I have never heard of 2 benzos being prescribed at the same time. My perception was that "mothers little helper' was over prescribed in the late 60's early 70's and became the most prescribed drug on the market.
I was under the impression that Atavan, Klonopin and Xanax were developed to cut down on Valium script's but each with a unique extra "kick", ie Klonopin was/is used to treat seizures as well as stress and Xanax as an anti-shyness (I doubt that is a medical term;)) treatment as well as a treatment for stress.
