beta blockers for anxiety

by anacyde, Nov 28, 2006 12:00AM
I hate pills, but I've recently heard that beta blockers are now being used to treat PTSD as well as anxiety.  Apparently they can help block recall of traumatic events.

I naturally have low blood pressure and can drop into the 50s with my HR.  However, I also have PSVT and frequent PACs, which beta blockers are frequently prescribed for also.  Aside from my low rates and BP, I seem like an ideal candidate.  Does anyone else take a BB with those issues?

Beta Blockers are mainly used to reduce blood pressure by slowing down your heart rate. If you have low blood pressure your doctor probably won't think it's a good idea to prescribe a beta blocker. Have you checked with your doctor ?
