bp high

can anxiety make your bp go way up. like 182/94 its been low but my back hurts and i think am anxiety over it cause it makes my chest hurt to.  any one have this problem with bp and anxiety

Altho' physical reasons for high blood pressure readings should be checked out if bp stays high, you can click archives and 'anxiety symptoms' , then 'bp...' pops up. It is a topic we have discussed quite a bit in this forum.

Will share my experience now: a few weeks before minor surgery, I went to personal physician with a sinus complaint.  His PA saw me and said my blood pressure was very high..forget the exact numbers...and I don't have high pb normally.  Well, I treked to grocery store once or twice a day for a week to get readings...all normal, and when I returned to office after the week, I was fine.  Further, when I saw my own doctor in relaxed environment, it was the usual 120/70.  Even tho' I was put thru' the usual battery of pre surgery tests. On the day of surgery, it was even lower...117/70.

In my case a high level of stress brought on the unusually high reading. A one time thing.

Anxiety can cause many symptoms.  If your doctor rules out an organic reason for this high bp, time to practice relaxation techniques.

Many people tend to have their blood pressure go up when going to the doctor.  I believe the term they use for it is "white coat syndrome."  I always freak out when going to the doctor and get really high blood pressure readings.  My normal bp is about 110/70.  However I've had readings at the doctor of anywhere from 145-155 over 90-100.  Also, being in physical pain, which you are, can cause your blood pressure to be higher.

thank you for helping me out. its drop to 150/82, i feel less stress but i can tell am having anxiety as to i dont want to eat. i had a echo last week it was great. i wore a 24 hour bp monitor it was very low readins so confused as to why its so high today other than anxiety. so wanted to see what all thought
